Leauge Leader!! ME!!

Post by retep »

Oh yes! New stats are listed, and I am the new Leauge Leader for batting average. Sorry Cuong, but you're back at number 2
Ah yes, the sweetness of triumph.
Then again, my error was a sad event :(

True. We should ask Jason if he can get a spell check on this!

Sorry man, blame Rob.... if he had dropped my sac fly (he nearly did) it would have been another at bat for me, and i'd be only 3 for 5 (3 for 4) , and you, Mr. Cuong, would be in the lead 8)

Bottom line: I am not going to f*cking do that.

Post by gohlkus »

uh... I think the bulletin board software is designed to allow you to show exactly how good of a speller you are.

(i.e. no spell-check feature.)

However, I can have it replace specific words with other words. This is meant to allow me to censor content (in other words, replace "fuck" with "f*ck" or "f---" or "fudge"). I am not going to do that.

What would be really twisted and amusing (to me) would be to have it do things like replace "A's" with "Athletics", "the" with "tha", "Billy Beane" with "Baseball God Billy Beane", etc. You guys would never know what was coming. I am not going to do that either.

I could have it replace "Leauge" with "League," etc., etc., but for me to try to anticipate every word everyone is going to misspell is mind-breaking. I am not going to do that either.

Aye, I think we should have a league leaders for players doing bad, too, like errors, K's, etc...Atleast they're leading in something. It would be interesting..

Tracking Errors

Post by Baseball=Life »

My calculator doesn't go up high enough for us to track errors at DeFremery.

Nah, we haven't been tracking them, but it would be easy to do so. I'm just scared to face the actual total number of times I've fucked up. To me, the best reflection of a infield defender at least is their webgems/errors ratio, ie they get a gem for every 5 errors they make, etc.

I'm actually going to implement another change to the way we keep score next time. You know how in the Run column, instead of using tally marks, we put the number of the inning they scored in (ie "5" for scoring a run in the 5th). Let's do that same thing for the RBI, HR, 2B, and 3B catagories. It makes analyzing the game afterwards much easier, and it's really easy to implement this idea. For instance, I'm pretty sure that it was Anthony who had the crucial late inning RBIs, but I'm not totally sure. A system like the above would make this easy to determine.,

I donno if Web Gems are a good indicator of how good a fielder someone is. For example, someone could take a poor route to the ball, and then need to dive, or backhand, or whatever.

Also, there is the total element of chance, regarding what plays are hit to you. For example, a 1B or C isn't gonna have as many chances for a WebGem as an OF, SS, or 3B.

Just don't forget to make the columns wider or else it'll get a little jumbled.

Good Point about wider columns

Post by Baseball=Life »

The only column I really need to widen is the HR column next to where my name is listed.

Nick, this is like the Baseball Stars scoresheet revisions from last year!
