All I hope is that they come out better than the Dodgers.

2005 Giants

I'm excited to see Moises with dad Felipe, plus Alou can give Barry some protection, at least more than anyone they've had since Kent. And picking up Omar Vizquel---awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. But the team overall is so old except for the starting rotation, a key injury could sink the team---Cody Ransom backing up just isn't enough. And if Barry was ever depending on any performance-enhancing stuff, it's supposed to take 2 years before you decline/fall apart, ie McGwire's foot problems 2 years after he stopped the Andro. Hopefully the Giants will remain healthy.

I hope the Giants do great and make it to the Series. And beating LA should definitely be doable. I'd be more worried about the Padres, best team they've had in several years.

you're wrong, scott.

injury to OF: Pedro Feliz can play either RF or LF decently, and could pick up -some- slack for barry or alou. In CF, Tucker has shown that he can do fine out there, and with a full season of at bats, could hit 22 HRs So, no worries there.

injury to IF: Again, Pedro can play 3B, 1B, and 2B. We'll ignore his miss-adventure at SS. But in that case, we still ahev cruz at SS, who was our every-day guy last year. If durrum gets hurt, Alfonzo can repalce him, with Pedro at 3B.

We are a much deeper club than last year.

Man that hurt !!!! Haha

I voted they would make the playoffs despite the criticisms I mentioned. You bring up a good point about Feliz, but I consider Tucker below average, and him getting 450 ABs seems like a longshot. They should've held onto Dusten Mohr. The reason I think they will overcome these shortcomings is because they have ownership that will spend bucks to make it happen. They'll be fine, especially if they can get some of that young starting pitching to do well.

I'm not saying that Tucker will get 450 ABs. What I am saying is if Grissom goes down, there is an avalible repalcement.

And thanks for reminding me! We have 6 good starters, so thats even more insurance against someone gettin hurt.

Plus, its the Chinese year of the rooster, which is a good thing, seeing all those rubber chickens at Giants games!

Mohr was not that good: I think of him as an AL player. He would be a good fit on the A's. Power and speed with not much AVG.

Actually it's the year of the cock which, oddly enough, is what the Giants pitching staff will be sucking if Schmidt goes down. I have no faith in Rueter to stay strong this year, and who can they count on? Aardsma? Christensen maybe?

I'll keep my hands off Williams. He's alright.

Seeing as how there's an indirectly homosexual reference in the previous post, I'll clarify this. Williams is okay. He might be the guy to pull through if one of those geezers gets hurt.

Well, Lowry was awsome last year, and Tomko pitched real well in the last half of the season. Plus, we have Williams, who I think is a future star... but he was hurt last year.

The Giants, without Jason, may suffer from the same thing St. Louis did last year: a staff of simple, good pitchers but not the right staff to win playoffs. Still, we did ok last year when Jason went down, and now we even have a real closer!

Am I the only one who remembers how well Benitez did with the Mets?

People change. That's all I have to say. Besides, as long as he dosen't blow like 17 saves like the Giants did as a team last year, we'll be fine.
