Oct 1st is the last day of the regular season, but that's what VCRs/Tivo is for. You guys are talking about coming up here to Oakland to play, right?

wow... i didn't realize how soon Oct. 1 was... we should make sure to get a head count at this sunday's live game, and start working on a line-up ASAP.

A few quick questions for our guests:

-What are we going to do about umpiring?

-What will the structure for the line-ups be: 9-man, 10-man (9+dh), or everybody bats?

-What are your rules concerning the basepaths and collisions (we use MLB rules concerning take-out slides and collisions at home plate)?

guys' i think the henderson field would be better than flood as floods mound is jacked up.

and not to turn this into the were we play i think the notion of a field is too good to play on is stupid. i mean the fields are built for people to play on them not say "man i would love to play baseball but i dont wanna mess up that pretty field" and el cerrito vista would be a great back up field

Yeah, assuming it's accessible, the Henderson field would seem preferable to Curt Flood.

To the above post, if you're referring to our recent discussion about Nicholl, well I'll tell you again.... there's a longevity factor to consider. It's not like this situation here with Henderson where it most likely wouldn't impact our future usage patterns. We don't have a key alternate field located right next to Henderson. And, I know you may feel a sense of entitlement about all fields, but not everyone in the greater community would agree with you on that. I know you said we should have unwrapped Nichol field 1 and trampled the fresh sod, only to bring undue attention on us when an adequate substitute was right nearby, but, once again, one must consider long term usage. Instant gratification can be great, but also short-sighted at times.

i forgot to bring this up in any formal way at sunday's game... but there were plenty of conversations about it happening at the game, so I think everyone who was there (but isn't active on the forums) knows what's going on.

On top of the people we already know are interested:
Dan R.
Dan M.
Richard J.
Ken D.
Scott L. (injured?)
Paul C.
Pat K.
Peter R.
Dave L.

I think we can also count on:
Matt C.
Mario H.
David J.
Eddie R. (injured?)
Nick W. (injured?)

and should look into confirming with:
Will J.
Carlos E.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Have I mentioned recently how good of a team we would make? Just looking at the names on these lists... Between the great gloves and big bats, it makes me wish we could start more people!!!
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

anyway, with that being said... I think our best case scenario lineup would look something like:
1-Ken D (c)
2-Dan R (p)
3-Will J (lf)
4-David J (3b)
5-Mario H (ss)
6-Carlos E (cf)
7-Eddie R (dh)
8-Matt C (rf)
9-Pat K (2b)
10- Peter R (1b)

This lineup definately values defense over offense and is the result of no more than 5 minutes of (distracted) thought... so feel free to rip me apart and/or throw out your own ideas.

edit: but we should definately be finalizing plans for this team... this game is only a week away!!! hypothetically

edit: adjusted lineup

My take on it:

1-Mario H (ss)
2-Pat K (2b)
3-Will J (lf)
4-David J (3b)
5-Dan R (p)
6-Eddie R (dh)
7-Carlos E (cf)
8-Matt C (rf)
9-Ken D (c)
10- Peter R (1b)

And with no will and carlos?

1-Mario H (ss)
2-Matt C (c)
3-Dan R (p)
4-David J (3b)
5-Eddie R (lf)
6-Pat K (2b)
7-Ken D (cf)
8- Paul C (1b)
9-Richard J (dh)
10- Peter R (rf)

These are some good ideas. I think we shouldn't forget Conte. He played CF in the last challenge at Henderson. Arm/Defense/Left-Handed Pop. But I haven't heard from Conte or Carlos E. in a while, so I'm not sure what's up with them on this.

I'm starting to wonder if the 10/1 target date is just penciled in, and in reality it's going to be scheduled past that.

B.K., is the 10/1 date solid or are you polling your people on other dates? Etc...

Coincidentally enough, I'm gonna be back up in berkeley that weekend

nono, I don't expect to play, but I may come out and watch for a bit (it's my sister's birthday that weekend, so I may not even be around)

I just found it fairly amusing :)
Rules:
1. I am always right.
2. If I am ever wrong, read rule number 1.

As for fields... I'd hope that we can get a nice park with a mound. If not, then we can always play at our place in San Jose. But we can always do that later too.

And I promise I'll get you a solid time next time I post. But chances are it will be around 1:00 o'clock.

i think mario has too much pop to bat lead off so this is my idea(s). also i agree with ken's line up if we get everyone otherwise...

how ever i think eddie is a good flake possibility as he isnt a regular and he hurt himself at the last game, then the next most likely is carlos then will

so with out eddie the line up goes

1-Ken D (C)
2- Dan R (p)
3-Will J (lf)
4-David J (3b)
5-Mario (ss)
6-Carlos E (cf)
7-Pat K (2b)
8-Matt C(rf)
9-Richard J (dh) ?
10- Peter R (1b)

and then with no eddie and carlos

1-Ken D (c), (cf)
2- Dan R (p)
3-Will J (cf), (lf)
4-David J (3b)
5-Mario (ss)
6- Matt C (lf), (c)
7-Pat K (2b)
8-Richard J (dh) ?
9-Nick W (rf) ?or if injured Scot L batiing 10th
10- Peter R (1b)

well those are my thoughts i put ?'s by new ideas. and considering paul said he will be un-able to attend i didnt count him. so feel free to tell me what ya think!

Attention Live Game Addicts

Post by Baseball=Life »

Hey, live game lovers, just a heads up that I decided to convert this Sunday's game into a Live game so we can be better prepared for the 10/1 challenge. I'm not totally sure B.K. and his San Jose people are confirmed for the 10/1 date, but let's assume they are and go ahead and prepare.

Note: Since I'm scooting up this Live game and making it sooner, it means I'll delete the following one that was set up (not yet announced) for October. Then I'll go back to the standard schedule approach (once / month).

Look for the email as always.
