RIP Byung Hyun Kim

Post by Southpaw Slim »

Choking in the 7th inning tonight against Japan will not go over well with the citizens of Korea. It's happened before, to players I can't remember for reasons I can't explain *cough* but I think he showed his habitual shittiness again tonight.

On the other hand, Uemara was steamrolling the Korean team toward their first and only loss in the WBC. But now, it leaves us with the interesting possibility of Japan v. Cuba.

Say what you want, but a career 3.90 Career ERA is nothing to sneeze at. He had two 100 K seasons as a reliver, and don't forget he has played his career in three of the most hitter-friendly parks in baseball: Arizona (5 seasons) Colorado (two seasosns) and Boston (one season).

I guess I'm just going by anecdotal evidence, but he always seems to choke in pressure situations.

yeah, but he's still good enough to find his way into such situations (does that make sense?)

We also remeber his WS blows vs. the Yankees. But he's tough.

The guy is a pretty decent picther but he is not tough. He cried on national television after having possibly the worst back-to-back outings of any reliever in MLB history.

Who would you rather have closing games for you, B.K. Kim or LaTroy Hawkins?
