Broken pinky

Post by tallguy »

Probably no-one but me really gives a damn, but just so that no-one rags on me that I should be showing up for more games, I have to relate the sad news that I won't be able to play any baseball for about six or seven weeks. I fractured my left pinky playing vintage baseball on Sunday, and it needs surgery to prevent arthritis in the future.

I will, however, be home plate umpire for any live games we have while it is healing up. Next live game is August 20th according to the schedule, so come on down for that. I plan to use a somewhat generous strike zone to keep things moving, but it will be consistent.

Nah, I'm not taking it back. Not unless I get too desperate to play and start swinging the bat one handed!

Good thing you caught that and didn't assume it was just a jammed finger. One of these days I'll show you my "Straight pinky, curved pinky" fingers.

Ah damn, 6-7 weeks? That means I most likely won't be able to try and ruin your day before I take back off to San Jose

Rest and let it heal fully, Paul, or you'll be missing games in the future. Stay well!

Hey, as someone who's done lots of umpiring, I can tell you it's not something that you just do casually without any preperation. So I recommend you do some research on how to be a good umpire.
