Batting Practice

Post by Dave L »

I propose that we have batting practice before each game. (Just like the big guys!)

Now, I practice hitting during the week and I definately hit way better in practice and it's not carrying over into the games. I think I need to hit a little and get into the groove on game days. I'm sure everyone would benefit from it. It could make our games more exciting. And everyone not hitting would be getting fielding practice (like we seem to do each week.)

So, I propose to make it official: batting practice at 10:30am. (I'd even come at 10am for that.) Warm up before bp or while you're not hitting. Each batter gets x number of hits. We rotate in from the field in a formal way so everyone gets a chance to hit.

So, waddya say guys?

I would say plan it at 10:00 so people get there. 10:30 is when we need to really be getting ready for gametime.

Although I cannot usually make it at 10, I think it's a good idea to incorporate it.

Or we could push game start time forward to 11:30?

Scott?

Well, the purpose of the goal of the 11:00 start time is to allow time for a double-header should turnout make that an option.

It's funny, this used to be one game every two weeks at 1:00. Then it became one game every week at 12:00. Then it became a game every week at noon. Then we came to the current arrangement. And I mean it's literally funny, not Gen X sarcasm funny.

I like the idea, and I would definitely call for it to begin at 10:00. I already get up early on Sundays to check the field, blah blah, so I could get there early (or maybe just not leave after checking it at 9:00) to participate.

I'm happy that we're considering this. 10am would be fine for me. I guess this is an optional thing so if everyone can't make it, well they can still hopefully make the game.

But let's see how 10am sounds to some more of you.

Count me in pending what my ride to the game says. I actually will be there at 9 this weekend if things work out the way I think they will.

You do realize I live in San Jose right? Or has that miniscule fact completely slipped your mind?
