Awards & Homerun Derby

Post by retep »

Just thinking that it would be fun to have another derby. Also thinking we could tie this in to giving out the awards to people for season 3 in a couple weeks. Ideas?

I just noticed that my passenger side wing mirror got broken by that one homer which hit my car. Next time it will not be anywhere near the area!

But I did quite enjoy catching those bombs, I'm up for a repeat. I guess I should put my reputation on the line and join in, too!

Yeah. Luckily, my car escaped with no visible damage after a homer hit my trunk... unless it didn't hit my trunk and I'm just half-blind.

Eh...... it's a decent idea. I'm not a HR hitter so it doesn't really appeal to me whatsoever. With weather and turnout already unpredictable, I don't like the notion of another variable possibly reducing the number of games played. Assurances this would be avoided (such as using a Saturday) would be great.

Dudes, I don't think everything has to be so premeditated, authorized, scrutinized, organized and any other ized I might have missed. Like last week, after we play our games, someone can bring up the idea or let it be known that there is potential for a derby, pending interest, before we begin. Those who want to participate can join the fun and those who have reasons not to, well, as they say in the streets, do you!!! I'm almost positive that anyone who has some extra time on their hands will be more than willing to join in.

This way it won't interfere with any of our actual games. The idea of having it be a part of our awards ceremony is a good one but again it can just be brought up that day after our game. Cool?

Hey Dan, rephrase, this doesn't make sense. Thanks, I'm just trying to understand what you meant.

No need. I'll fill you in later today. Though, I'm sure you get my drift.

In the context of the forum it shouldn't be that difficult to figure out. I'll translate:

If you want to play with us, then golly-gee widdikurs that would be swell. If you don't, than I'll be sadder than a kid with a spilled ice cream cone but I'm gonna play anyway and you'll just have to do whatever it is that you do. Hence: Do You.

That being said, Nicholls is the place I really want to have a Derby at, especially after watching last night. So this Sunday, after our games are over, I plan on bringing up the idea. Hopefully enough people will be interested to make it worthwhile.

And it would be fun to have some people stay and watch. The final of our derby had like 2 people watching :-P

Thanks for explaining. Strange, but the wording still throws me off into a slight state of confusion. But I think I get the overall gist.

Is it the sentence as a whole that you don't undertsand or the phrase DO YOU? The sentence makes complete sense. The phrase is slang terminology so it's not meant to be understood using proper English comprehension. You're probably not reading it right but for anyone who doesn't know street slang, I shouldn't expect them to.

By the way, from numerous conversations we've had or I've been witness to on the field, I notice that you're consistently asking people to repeat what they've just said becasue they've lost you or you couldn't hear them, even though you and the speaker are usually 2 feet apart so either you have bad listening skills or you're always in "a slight state of confusion."

Got'cha.
