OK, I own the top two heaviest, largest bats out of any of us, and never inteded to use a -7. I hit my grand slam with a bat of the exact same specs as this one I just bought. Several other people have also used it.
I consistently use a heavier bat than anyone else, save maybe Nick who sometimes uses the Koops bat, God knows why.
You know, we'd all benefit from reading The Physics of Baseball. That or a physics degree (like mine, for example) would tell you that a light bat will get you better results over the long term.
Knowing this, I still like to use a heavy bat, as you all know by now. But late in a game I like to have a light bat to switch to when I'm tired. That is all.
Oh, and Nick, I currently own 2 metal 34/31 bats, a 34/30 wood bat which is new, plus a 34/29 wood bat and the Tallguy. I've decided I'm a bat collector.
I am trying to get a 35/32 but they are rare. I could get one immediately if I cared to pay $60 for it, but I try to never pay more than 50. So far I haven't.

it just seems kinda silly to be swinging a bat made for a little kid (or maybe an old man). We should all be using regulation bats. If you're too tired to swing a 34/31 late in the game, then switch to a 32/29.
But we've discussed this before... and I was boo'd down...

I don't disagree, but don't care much either way. My metal bat, which is dead--but I use it anyway--is regulation -3 for high school plya.TheLegend wrote:it just seems kinda silly to be swinging a bat made for a little kid (or maybe an old man). The old rule said -5, but they changed it a few years ago. I think the NCAA still uses -5.
Oh, and for the record, Ollie also used the Kooks bat, and nearly pulled a 2B down the line (after using a metal bat to be late on a ball and hit a 2B to right. Go figure).

I usually use it in the 9th inning because it forces me to slow down my swing and follow through. Nothing more than that.tallguy wrote:I consistently use a heavier bat than anyone else, save maybe Nick who sometimes uses the Koops bat, God knows why.
I intended to write something to remind everybody of my superior prowess.
Just received the bat, and it is almost exactly the same as Pablo's. Just like I said it was, bitches. Only the color is different, really.
For $52 I am extremely happy with this purchase, considering they usually go for over $150 new, even on ebay. I'm very tempted to resell it, while it still has the shrink wrap on it.
Oh, and I noticed on Sunday that Dave's -5 bat also has a 2 3/4" barrel, it is just a shorter, regular-sized hitting zone. So it's nothing new for our group.

Nice. I'd be interested in trying it out for an inning or two, for the novelty value.Southpaw Slim wrote:.... I just bought a lefty catcher's mitt (33.5").
I meant to put something here that reminded everyone that this forum exists
