3/19 Doubleheader

Post by Pat K »

I think the FIRST game we had today, was one of the best games I have played at OPB. The teams were well picked, and the defense was above average all around the diamond. I think we might have set a record for fewest errors in a 9 inning game. Or at least it seemed like it.

I checked the boxscores, and the second game was he first win for me in the 3rd season. Not only that, but it was the first win since 11/06/05 (which was a pretty crushing victory, 25-7, and I got 7 hits and 10 RBI) and must have been really sweet since that was the day before my birthday.
(The very next day I would be brought down to Earth when all my old baseball kit was stolen out of the trunk of my car)
I told you guys it had been a long time. I didn't realize it had been that long, though. And I didn't even have a good day today!
As we say in England, it's a funny old game.

well as for pog's go im gonna say james or ollie on my team and i guess say ken on the other. but i had to find a coin to flip as pat then. as they both went 3 for 5 but ken had a double and pat a rbi. also mat and chris and ollie i feel are honorable mentions. there shouldnt be 7 possiblities for a pog. oh well in a game that close everyone is a star. except seth and will which is strange as i fear the horrible bat that is will. oh and we all need to by seth a treadmill or something cause getting thrown out from center to 1st is wrong.

This weeks game was so funny. Usually POG honors go to someone with multiple extrabase hits or 5 RBIs or something. This week, I'm like... ooh- Pat had a run and an RBI! LOL. I also agree with Pat's sentiment that this was OPBs best game ever. In a 3-2 game, the excitement is constant and every atbat, baserunner and play in the field feels like it could be the difference in the game. Fantastic! I feel bad that I opened the floodgates in the second game, I can't help but think that if I hadn't made 3 straight errors (and 5 in two innings) that that game would've been a lot more like the first.

For POG I would give it to Pat over myself because he had a run and an RBI and played much more of a role in the field than I did.

This Sunday's boxscores were down during database repairs. Then they were back. Now they're down again, but I'm learning a valuable lesson about double-headers.

The scorekeeper still says Ken went 2 for 5, despite lobbying efforts to the contrary. A good throw beats him to the bag on a fairly routine play. The Scorekeeper's Union is looking into this.
