Player of the Game 3/05/06

Well the stats, leaderboards, boxscore, etc... are all up---------> SO!!!!

Who's player of the game for March 5th?

For the Away team, it's got to be Peter L., who turned in one of his trademark monster days at the plate. Not only did he crank out 2 HRs, but he is now in sole possession of third place for most RBI in a single game! (He also finally passed me on the career RBI list too, haha.) In addition to his whopping 9 RBI, Peter also hit for the cycle--it's believed to be the first cycle hit for in Oakland Park Baseball away from DeFremery Park. And, it's got to be said, who knows what Peter L. would've done with some more ABs? Anyway, Peter also had a couple good plays for force outs at 2nd... he took some quick dishes on both plays from 2B Daniel R.

For the Home team, it's clearly Anthony M. Now we see why he was pushing for this field to be tried (:lol:)... Anthony went 3/5 smashing a double and a HR, while racking up 4 RBI. He was also involved in a memorable tag play at home plate while playing the role of offensive pitcher. The throw came in from LF (Nick W.) to get Jason G. Well, Antmo bobbled the throw at first, but then got it under control just in time to tag Jason.

A few more AB's would have been nice.

The only thing that cooled Peter down was the forfeiture. Also I understand Paul may have been ready to switch to an aluminum bat after clearing the wood/metal rule with Scott. Fireworks would have surely ensued out yonder left field fence.

Yeah. It's a shame we didn't get a few more chances to take advantage of the wind. The conditions were great. Your home run didn't look like it was going to clear at first, but the wind caught it and took it for a ride. Playing LF in that wind was tough. Next time put me in right.

Hey Nick, having played both positions that day, I can tell you right was no picnic either. The wind created a nasty slice to flyballs, and made throws back in difficult too.

Paul, thanks for the heads up. With the natural screwball motion I already have on my throws, the wind could cancel it if I just aim directly at the person.

Richard, I thought you were a natural 3B. That's what Ken told me the first game you played. You take some time when you set for your throws, but I think you could show your potential quickly if you had a lot of action there.

well i dont think im that bad, public opinion says im. just ask ken. i do argue that more experience will make me better as it will anyone. but with great infielders like pat, daniel, scott, peter, ken and a few other who are clearly better than me i dont think i will play the right side any time soon. it just doesnt make since and i dont really care. cause the most important thing is to have a good team not put everyone where they want to be. for example in the game where rob left i was stinking it up at 3rd and rob at 1B so i moved to first and rob to right. i didnt feel that right at first base cause i havent done it that much. but i feel every 1st man should be over 6 feet. im not saying that scot cant play 1st he just shouldnt as he is like 4' 9" or something. cause the bigger you are the more area you can cover and still have a foot on the bag. although peter surprised the shit out me on 1st cause i thought he was a little small (not being 6') but man could he strecth and grab some balls

Damn, dude, I know I'm short, but you took almost a foot off my actual heighth! I'm 5'7".
