Well, let's see here...
It went pretty well. We lost 7-2. At least 3 (possibly 4 or more) of the runs they scored were unearned. Dan R. pitched 7 innings, only giving up 1 walk, 1 HBP, and 4 hits (I think.). Will J went the final 2 innings, 1 hit and a few walks. (no pitching scoresheets, just based on memory)
If I had made a better throw from SS to turn a double play in the 1st, and if I had made a better throw from SS to get their leadoff hitter at 1st base starting the 5th (I think), they would have scored at least 2 fewer runs. I also should have called James (3B) off on an infield pop-up that fell for a ROE---definitely my play, should've called him off but failed to.
If we had had one (possibly two) big hits, we would have put more runs on the board. We got runners over to 3rd a few times. Our runs were scored by Ken in the 1st after getting on base with a walk, and by James in the 5th by getting a single, then advancing all the way home on 2 attempted steals in which their throws got away. Our problem, aside from the defensive errors I mentioned, was striking out at the plate. Everyone on the team struck out at least twice, except Conte (once) and Peter Ri. (none).
Nick made a nice sliding catch in the infield grass from 2B. In the 9th, we almost nailed a guy at home plate, but the relay throw home was just barely off.
All in all, it was fun and we did pretty well avoiding a blowout considering our normal style of play.
As for the field itself, McConnell is awesome, you'll love it. I'm attempting to contact the guy from the other team to ask him what's up with McConnell's availability this Sunday. Stay tuned.

Don't forget Dan's pickoff that I bungled. That would have saved a run. Also, I came barrelling into home while Richard J. was at the plate with a full count and 2 outs. If he had swung the bat, I'd be drinking my food right now.
I intended to write something to remind everybody of my superior prowess.

For the record I only struck out once, hideously on an inside courve that made my knees buckle so bad they hurt today, but once nonetheless. I know that is a poor contribution to an otherwise informative bunch of posts but it's all I can muster at this hour.
All in all I had a great time and hope we get more invites from other teams that need a warm up.
Great field.

while i thought it was a good close game i noticed that there where a few hard decisions that should've been made.
1) i shouldnt have dh'ed while i like to think of myself as a power hitter i have bad ab's at the plate some times. also with a BADLY cut finger and 2 popped blisters swinging sometimes hurts
2) too many people were batting 11 or 12 person line-up is just too many everyone gets less ab's so there they aren't as productive as they would've been
3) nick probally should have dh'ed as daniel is a better 2nd baseman and nick is a better dh than me
4) i think there were 1 or 2 other people who should have been in the line-up
but that was the closest 5 run loss ever. i mean just about every inning we left a runner on 3rd. and then there was my un-clutch strikeout with 2 outs and the bases loaded

Thanks for the info, fellas. Sounds like it was a fun time. And sounds like it was a very close game considering you were playing an organized team. You guys are too hard on yourselves.
So, lots of strikeouts, huh. What, was their pitcher a lot better than what we're used to in our live games? Really fast or tricky with location or what?
And Ken's 2 triples!! Wow!!!
(Sorry for my double post before. Don't know how that happened...)

We had the best warm up ever.
This is Peter Rich.
I just wanted to add to the discussion that we had the longest and ugliest warmup ever. Many of use were so warm that our arms were soar before the game started. The other team probably thought we were going to be awful based on the missed throws and the blooper music (it was in my head). But when all is said and done, we ended up really giving them a good game. By looking like we didn't know what we were doing, we had the psychological edge that gave us that first run.
I wish that first pitcher stayed in until at least the 4th or 5th inning. We had him pretty figured out.
Also Dan pitched like a bad-ass. If we had that same team together and practiced like once a week to work on cleaning up the details, we could be really competitive. Develop some middle relief pitching and a closer. We would rock.

Ya, we definately ran with them. This was a winnable game for us... we had a few costly errors on defense and left a bunch of runners in scoring position, but we played well and kept it relatively close.
Someone contacted me on playnotwatch.org and said they'd like to play our team... i figured at first that it was the same guy... but now i'm not so sure. I'ma go back and double check that.
Do we want to play another team?

Yeah, Ken, I'm open to playing other teams in similar circumstances. However, every invite I've gotten from playnotwatch (as well as some other version of playnotwatch I can't remember the name of right now) has actually been spam; an attempt to get me to sign up for something else.
So beware that it's potentially spam and not a real offer.
Edit: Hey that reminds me, if I recall you still have the old website listed in your playnotwatch profile... please update it. [I recall it saying parkbaseball.tk rather than www.parkbaseball.cjb.net. Another option, if in fact I'm already listed there under parkbaseball.cjb.net, would be to delete your profile to avoid the double listing. I don't remember the exact scenario, so maybe just take a peek at it...]
