Play ball! Then talk about it. Or vice versa.

"It is designed to break your heart."

A. Bartlett Giamatti wrote:It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.

I love this quotation. Maybe it's a little sentimental, but, hey, that's me.

Luckily, we don't have to go year-round without baseball. I want to remember not to take that for granted.

That's a great quote, Jason. I'd love to see a thread devoted to baseball quotes like the one above. I'm going to start thinking of the quote I love the most. Michael P's signature comes to mind.
I intended to write something to remind everybody of my superior prowess.

Who said this about successful hitting:
"See the ball, hit the ball"?
Pretty good in a zen-like way.

Actually, I'm 99% sure "hit it where they ain't" was Wee Willie Keeler.
