What's My Best Position?
What's My Best Position?
So I'm shopping for a new glove, and I'll probably end up getting a utility glove, but if I can decide that I'm significantly better at one of the positions listed above then I'll get a glove specifically suited for said position.
You should also know that I'm not just asking about play with our group, I'm looking forward to playing college ball (at a JC) in January. Dorian and Scott have told me that I should probably focus on outfield because of my footspeed and my arm, and I agree that I'm probably a better outfielder than an infielder, but I consider OF to be an easier position than 3B or MI, so even though I'm better out there, I suspect that the people that I'm competing against will be better as well. I.E. I think I'm pretty good on the infield, and "pretty good" is more likely to get the job done on the infield than "good" is to get the job done on the outfield.
It's pretty obnoxious, and I'll probably end up getting a UTIL glove anyway, but I'm curious to know what you all think.

I think you suck at all positions. haha
I think that you'll have a better chance of being a starter in the outfield. Think of it this way, there's 3 openings out there, as opposed to only one spot at 3B. I don't expect that there will be much of a shot at SS, since the best overall player on the team will probably already play there. Oh, I forgot that you could do 2B too. Well, I still think the OF is the best shot. A lot will of course come down to how well you hit.

I decided on a Easton Black Magic Utility Glove.
It looks good. It Feels Good. I like the size. I like the pocket. You guys better watch out.
Oh, and after sunday's game I'm strongly considering throwing my hat in with the catchers. I'm thinking this because, even though it's a waste of my footspeed and some of my athleticism, I could be head and shoulders above the field in terms of defensive agility (blocking balls) and aggressiveness (blocking the plate). I think because I played football I'm going to be a bit more willing to throw my body around than a lot of other baseball players (and yes I did just call the whole lot of you sissies!)

Ken, you shoulda seen the game where I had to run over 2 catchers in one day. I had to run over Shawn J. and Dave L.
Dave actually held onto the ball, despite me dishing out an even bigger hit to him than to Shawn! I think Shawn didn't quite have the ball yet compared to Dave, so he had less time to brace for the hit.
It was sweet though, I look foward to smashing into you!!!

If you have not already got the black magic glove take a look at a 12" easton E-pro series. These are the same glove really used in the big leauges and will last a lot longer than the black magic. Its lined with real deer skin so the fit is comfortable and this really makes the glove hold up well. You can find them on ebay for 60-80 bucks, so they are about the same pirce as the black magics in the store anyway.
