Help.. name that show

Post by AntMoOAK »

Back in the day, Saturday morning used to be the Smurfs, some Looney Tunes and then baseball on NBC with Vin Scully... The Dodger's were always playing the Red's, or alternately the Angels were always playing Mike Greenweld, Wade Boggs and the BoSox... or so it seemed... but before the game... of course Mel Allen and TWIB would be on with the plays of the week, interviews and that infectious theme song... BUT what was the name of the baseball show that came on before it that was kinda corny and taught kids the nuances of the game... I wanna say the Johnny Bench show ? The San Diego chicken use to appear along with the Wiz (not the Whizinator :roll: ) and such.. I want to research to find old copies of it... I know I'm showing my age... but I KNOW I'm not the only Gen Xer from Park Baseball who remembers this show... help me out with the name please.

hMMMMMMMM

At first I thought you meant TWIB. But when you mentioned the chicken and Johnny Bench teachin kids about baseball, it triggered the memory of the other show......

What the hell was it called?

I have no idea!

Wait!

"The Baseball Bunch"

Does that sound right?

Edit: I just googled it and, yes, that is it!

Ahh yes... The Baseball Bunch... that icon of great '80's baseball... Thanks Scott... Actually upon further review, there will be a new Baseball Bunch this fall hosted by Harold Reynolds and The Phillie Phanatic (What Stomper's not good enough ?)...

I'm on an '80's tv nostalgia kick right now... CAPTAIN VIDEO anyone ?

Golden age of kids TV = 84-87, when we had:

Transformers (the dogs bollocks)

and

Thundercats (the mutt's nuts)

What's this "Trans-for-mers" you speak of? Is it anything like Go-Bots?

I think the protaganist on Transformers was Optimus Prime, who could transform from a robot to a Semi (truck). I think I even used to have Optimus Prime.

Yeah, it was around the same time as Go-Bots. Actually, I think Transformers might have even pre-dated go-bots.

I'm re-editing this post to return it to its original form:

Go-Bots : Transformers :: AIDS: sex

(not "Go-Bots : Transformers :: SARS : AIDS")

So you're saying Go-Bots is weak in comparison to Transformers? I'd agree with that, even having never seen Go-Bots.
