I've apparently scored more than I've been on base!!!

I have 21 hits, 6 roes and 28 runs

now that's efficiency!

TheLegend = Leadoff Hitter Extrodinaire

Post by Baseball=Life »

Yeah, I was noticing those numbers as well. Despite the seemingly high 19-18 score, yesterday was a pretty defensive game. 4 webgems and a few others that were almost-webgems. The top hitters in our league (average-wise) went a combined 6/14 (.428--Peter, Cuong & Nick). That's low for our league.

Anyway, my point is that despite the relatively low offensive numbers yesterday, TheLegend still managed to cross the plate 5 times!! Rich, Manuel, Rob, & Chris all scored 3 times, but noone came close to Kenyatte's 5 R's!

But I was thinking about it, and, I think you're more of a #2 hitter than a leadoff hitter. You have a little too much pop (ie RBI potential) to bat leadoff. So if you're on my team next time, I'm going to lobby for you to bat 2nd.

I wouldn't mind stepping out of the lead-off spot for a little while... I mean, I will need RBIs to win that triple crown, right?

May I point out that I had 3 of those 6 hits?

But I think you should stay in the lead-off spot... your speed is great, and you have good contact.

But by your logic, should I be a lead-off hitter, Scott? Its funny: I used to be a very low average hitter with good power (evey other hit I had was aextra bases). Maybe i'm in decline!

Peter as Leadoff Hitter

Post by Baseball=Life »

I think Peter at leadoff hitter would be good, you have been great in terms of consistent contact.

And, man, you were inches away from that first career HR at DeFremery. I feel for ya on that one.

I would like to point out that I would be a fine candidate for a high spot in the order, since I pretty consistently hit line drives for base hits and have a modicum of control as to where I place them. A 6 for 8 or 3 for 5 day is not uncommon for me.

It would be nice to see the ancient stats, because I think my batting average is quite good (though I haven't been to enough games since you guys arbitrarily decided the quality of the stats was better).

You'll have enough ABs soon. We're gonna cap the minimum at like 42 or something.

Jason, I agree about your consistant hitting, but I'm donno if your speed is quite high enough. Not trying to brag, byt Ken, Dorian, Dan, Scott, and Myself hall have that bit of extra speed to turn on. That gives us, on top of the hits, many FCs, ROEe, and infield hits.

I see you as a perfect 6-spot guy, the way I like to do lineups. It's like a seconmd lead-off spot: you get it set up for the top of the order, to keep rallies going. Also, since yoiu consitatly get line drives--unlike some of the top of the order guys who reach on erros and shit-- you are a better canidate for RBIS that I would say I am.

Just my thought!

Peter, I agree with your AL-style lineup theorem. I like to make a "dual line-up" with a lead-off hitter, 2nd man, heart of the order (3,4,5), and repeat if necessary.

That kind of lineup is tricky with our group, since we have 11 man line ups, and many good hitters. So, when I say 6th spot, I can mean a 7th or 8th spot as well.

Works for me... I just like to play. I don't really care where I am in the order. But it would be fun to try once in a while.
