4/3 game

Post by TheLegend »

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that yesterday's game swung on speed and defense.

Our team must've had 10 infield hits, and another 10 ROEs... while the other team had at most 2 or 3 of each. We loaded the bases with no outs via infield hit at least twice and I can remember another couple of times that beating out throws to first kept an inning alive.

In all honesty- the teams weren't that offensively lopsided. Our team may have had a slight advantage, but a lot of what happened was a result of many players on our team performing beyond expectations (most notably William). I know I haven't played as well as I did yesterday, either offensively or defensively, in a very long time (and to think, I probably wasn't even top 3 on our team in production :!: )

Oh well... I guess that's the end of the B-town connection :(
I think stacking that much speed at the top of the order with William's consistant power was the biggest problem. Between Daniel, Dorian and I, we produced only a handful of outs (approx. 5) in nearly 30 at-bats. If we had anyone besides William in that 4 spot it would've been a little different, but I still think Daniel, Ken, Dorian was the problem.

p.s. when will these stats be up?

What do you mean Ken? Do you mean we can no longer compare DeFremery to Fenway since we just had a high scoring game at Curt Flood?

Well Peter's in charge of that (until we get the new stat system from Nick, estimated in 3 months or so). There is a small delay insofar as there's confusion about the 6th inning and how 3 RBIs were achieved with 2 ABs, a ROE, but no hits by William. So I've asked Daniel to clarify, since he scored the whole game for your team. One of the ABs involved the 3 throwing error play on which you scored.

By the way, how did Daniel get stuck doing the entire scoring?!?! Especially on a high scoring game, not cool! People should help out, but it's all his handwriting on the sheet. For shame.

I was actually refering to Dorian, Daniel and I as the B-Town connection as we are all from Berkeley...

I would've been happy to help, but if I wasn't batting or on base I was pitching.

Giggle.

Yeah I was on base a bunch too, but to be fair after about the 4th inning Leo was keeping score too.

I helped too, there was a few people on our team who didn't get how to write it down, including me, so when I would do the score sheet, I would still be asking people questions and shit.

Our team actually had closer to 6 ROE. And I know I had 1 infield hit, at least.
I intended to write something to remind everybody of my superior prowess.
