Last year I bought 14 spikes for the bases as we get through those fairly quick on the rocky ground we play on. Now we are running out of them again. I found my old source had stopped selling them, but a good new source is www.buckaball.com. I just bought 24 more, as their shipping rates are very reasonable, and an order over $25 avoids the $5 handling charge.
Anyway, they also sell replacement straps, which we also need. I'm asking someone else to buy those, since I got the spikes. They are about $2.50 each, so if you ordered around 9 or 10 you would avoid the handling charge, and we'd be well stocked for a long time to come. Of course, you could order less than that if you don't mind the charge.
Step up and demonstrate your commitment to OPB!

You're the man, Paul, for finding all this info. Those spikes and straps are SO key to saving money in the long run. Buying a new set of bases costs $45 per set, so obviously keeping the old ones usable by putting in new spikes and new straps is a great money-saving technique.
I just personally had to throw down tons of money for a new glove, and finally a new equipment bag, so I'm not in a good position to help financially. Hopefully someone else will be able to help buy the straps. If no one else steps up, I'll go to the sperm bank and make some cash for OPB.
Nick, are the straps replaceable? It it a good idea to get backup straps? Paul, Nick, do you guys think it would require a sewing machine? Nick, you're the Bases Man, so please inform us about your view on straps and their replacability or non-replacability. Thanks.
