10-09 / 10-16 games
the field at Emery High School (or any other public high school for that matter) should be accessible and available on any given sunday.
It doesn't seem at all reasonable to play 4 of 6 games at Defremery, but then again to me it's not reasonable to play 1 of 6 games at Defremery.
I know we've done a lot of searching, but there has to be an available baseball field somewhere in the east bay.
DEFREMERY IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE BACK UP LOCATION FOR CURT FLOOD.

Hey, Emery sounds worth a try, unless others have ideas they feel are better. Anthony, do you agree that we should try Emery?
However, let's not try this until the 10/16 game. So the 10/9 game will still be at DeFremery. This is because many people are expecting the next game to be DeFremery---that's where I announced it would be. It's going to be hard to undo that announcement now, especially since many folks don't use the internet.
So let's play at Emery for the 10/16 game, DeFremery for the 10/9 game.
By the way, I was looking at the future schedule, and I found a way to recapture, or get back, the missed live game from 8/21. We can switch the 10/30 game from regular Curt Flood, to Curt Flood "live".
Also, we can recapture, or get back, the missed regular Curt Flood game from 9/4. We can switch the 11/6 game from DeFremery to Curt Flood (regular). This means that, aside from the 10/9 game, there's only 2 more DeFremery games scheduled for the rest of Season Two (11/20, 12/4), compared to 7 remaining games scheduled at the other, non-DeFremery fields.
I will try to get the calander updated ASAP to reflect these sheduling changes.
So to all those that thought I was addicted to DeFremery, check out how I'm going out of my way to ensure we don't miss the Curt Flood and the Curt Flood live games.

Wait... we're having this week's game at defremery because that's what people are expecting? That's silly. 3 of the last 5 have been there and I thought we decided on Sunday that if we found a better park we would use it. Can't you just send out an e-mail telling people that this weeks game would be at Emery? Isn't that what you usually do anyway? I'm confused.

Emery looks like a good bet. I like the way the field looks. One thing to consider... while I know no one uses the field on the weekends (unless Emery has a game and they don't on the 9th), I don't know if it is accesible on the weekends. Maybe someone can do a drive by to look at the gates. I like Tillman in Alameda personally.
Well, he has a point when he says that a lot of people don't pay attention to the forum that much, and some don't use the internet at all.
The only way to get the word out to those people is via phone calls, and lots of them. I for one don't see why Scott should have to do that. He does more than enough already.

Yeah, we have to put that alternative field idea into motion next week.
Anyway, check out the new expanded leaderboard for current season two. It's one of the new choices on the stats page. Always refresh the stat page for latest version.
It shows the top 10 of all the stat catagories, for current season.

Well... now that it's friday (saturday technically) that seems to be the case. That still doesn't answer my question of why you ignored this topic for 3 days after saying we would play at another field if we found one.Baseball=Life wrote:Yeah, we have to put that alternative field idea into motion next week.
I would be more than happy to call people and tell them that we were playing at emery and how to get there and whatever else they would need to know.
I'm not saying Scott should have to do all the work, but I don't appreciate him going out of his way to make it impossible to play somewhere else after telling everyone that he would be happy not to play at defremery.

I was at Emery H.S. today and that place has hella locked gates on it. It may not be accesible. Golden Gate down the street is a good bet. BTW... I was in a pretty bad car accident where I flipped my Jeep a coupla times on 880 after hitting someones abandoned all black w/ no lights Honda in the fast lane. I'm cool but being carless, I may not be able to get around as much to play. I suggest looking around some more as Emery looks to be locked. The field was locked today at around 1 oclock However the main gate to the campus was open.
Wow. It's good to hear that you're ok. A car I was in spun out on 880 during rush hour about a month ago. Some how we managed to not hit / get hit by anything / anyone. Too bad to wreck your car, but nice to know you're ok.I was in a pretty bad car accident where I flipped my Jeep a coupla times on 880 after hitting someones abandoned all black w/ no lights Honda in the fast lane.
Is Emery a public school? If so it's outdoor facilities should be available for use when school is not in session. This could just be an oddity. I'll try and double check that friday night or saturday morning, but in the meantime, there's nothing wrong with looking for other locations.AntMoOAK wrote:I was at Emery H.S. today and that place has hella locked gates on it. Are the infields at GG baseball sized? The last time I was there it felt like both fields were sized for softball? If this is correct then I am very much against playing there.
What about the fields in Alameda? Can you get those scans back up? Also, what about Skyline or other HSs in the area?
Encinal?
Alameda?
Fremont (Oakland)?
If you guys don't mind a bit of a longer trip, then St. Mary's in Berkeley might be nice (if accessible).
I'll do some searching and see if I can't get some pics up and/or do some rideby's/ access checks.
