Hey all. I saw that our opening day for our second season of 2005 is on July 3rd. I was thinking maybe we could have some sort of celebration, where we could announce the winners of the MVP and Gold Glove awards, have some BBQ maybe, and all that.
I know this is more than a month away, but just though this might be an OK idea. I would be down putting some money into a trip to Costco for some dogs, buns, and stuff. What are people’s thoughts?
Opening Day/ July 3 Festival?

Hell yeah
That's a great fuckin' idea. And people should encourage all their friends and family to come. Do it up potluck style. We could have it be a non-doubleheader. So the game could start later, like at 2:00. We could do the celebration, award handout, and general partying beforehand. Only the regulars would show up early for this most likely, which isn't so bad of an outcome. It really is amazing that we've created this league from scratch off the internet.

I think a ceremony and/or barbecue would be much more enjoyable after playing the game. And if anybody could get some fireworks, we could double it as a 4th of July celebration. So wear your red, white and blue!
Also, since it's at DeFremery, what better location could one possibly think of for a cookout? I'm sure there will be some fireworks in the neighborhood anyway, [Begin unrelated thought:] but we might have a problem with field availability if someone (with a permit) gets the same idea.
How about this:
• Awards at 11:00
• Game at 12:00
• Cookout at 3 (or whenever we finish playing)

I intended to write something to remind everybody of my superior prowess.

hahah
Hahahahah you dirty bastard! Well, ok, yeah, last time I tried to hit one out of DeFremery, I went 1/6. I'm a great contact hitter, and I can put the ball most anywhere I want to, but......... if I try to go yard the pop-ups commence. So you've made a valid point.
