I'm replying to put this post back up at the top, everyone eat of this stat meal!

It will be great when we can have interactive stats. That day will come by mid to late summer.

It's interesting how we have several relatively new people that appear to be coming on strong as big hitters: Lincoln, Manny (hard to call him "new"), Pat, Leo, William.

Note the big gap between Anthony (.571) and the next-qualified person, Cuong (.537)!

I never pegged Nick & Dorian as perhaps similar hitters until now.

I certainly never would've guessed Rob & Rich had similar BAs when I first saw the two of them.

All four hitters in the .300-.400 range are all upper .300 and are pushing to break into the .400+ club: Chris, Carlos, James, Dave. Lowest among them is .388.

I love how Michael came into the game batting .400, went 2/5, and stayed at .400.

Note: we're still going to see somewhat big fluctuations in people's averages at least until we get to about 150-175 ABs, then, statistically-speaking, they will begin to stabilize.

Hello All Oakland Baseballers (and those in that other city across the Bay, whatever you call it)

I am sure all of you have probably already heard that averages are overrated, but I just had to write after reading Scott's post

Yes average is a baseball tradition and Scott I know you probably did not mean to infer their similar offensive performance. BUT that statement is a little misleading as far as real offensive value.

For example:
Rob currently(4/18) has a .413 Avg/ 36 total bases in 75 AB/ .480 Slugging

While Rich has: .414 Avg/ 48 TB/ 70AB/ .685 Slug.

As you can see Rich's Slugging percentage is +.271 more than Rob's
That means for every 10 at bats Rich almost gets 3 more bases than Rob
OR every 100 at bats 27 more bases. That is a huge difference. So just because they are a very miniscule 2 percentage points in average apart, there true offensive value is much different.
