Best Lead-Off Hitter?

Thoughts on this one now....

I'm gonna go with Ken, for his speed, contact, and occasional power. I like guys at the top who can poke one out every now and then.

Scott is a very close runner-up to this. Maybe once his speed gets back, he'll over take Ken.

(I'm at school, doing a very boring project for econ.. its an online thingy for econ. please help me not die of bordom!)

Best Leadoff Hitter

Peter, you're definitely in the running for best leadoff hitter. Look at your fucking stats, man! You're hitting above .500!!! And you have speed too, despite the ankle situation.

You know the basepaths, and you hustle very hard.

So I think you're a candidate, for sure.

Kenyatte's been on fire for a while now. He's hard to deny. I must say it was incredibly fulfilling to throw him out at first from 3B last game. But I don't expect that to happen very often, he's just too fast. And, Ken, were you even thrown out at first at DeFremery twice? I can't remember it happening even once to you.

Myself, I'm inconsistent. I've gotten my average up, but my ABs have become predictable, and I haven't gone the other way often enough.

I hope to prove myself at the leadoff position as well 8)

As for Ken, I think he'd be better suited in 2nd or 3rd slot in the lineup. Not to say he'd be a bad leadoff, but I think he has more extra base hit capabilities than a leadoff hitter needs.

Thanks Scott! My ankle has been feeling better, anyway. Last game, scoring what had been the tying run in the 8th taging from 3rd, and then going from 2rn to home on a base hit (and what was the winning run) was tough. But I feel like my speed is back.

I think I'm too angry for a lead-off hitter. I even heard the "Josh" word used once regarding me. I was troubled!

It's funny... Every sunday night I go and play football with my buddies and out there I'm in the middle of the pack at best. I think the idea that I have great speed is just a result of the fact that I really do give 100% out there. On the basepaths I sprint on any ball hit on the ground. And when fielding, most of my apparent speed comes from fast reflexes and getting a jump on the ball.

With that said, I agree that I would be a good 1 or 2 hitter at Raimondi since I probably won't be hitting it over the defenses head there like I can at Defrem.

Peter's on Speed

Yeah, Peter, that was huge when you made it in from 2nd to score the winning run.... nice hustle on that!!!

I think I mentioned it in the "to lead off or not to lead off" thread, but I believe you are the first person to do that in a game at Raimondi. And only Kenyatte has made it 1st-3rd on a basehit. Way to go, both of you.

Yeah, Daniel, you definitely deserve to be in the running. When you're on, you can dump basehits past the middle infielders all day. Plus, you have speed. If I hadn't done some tricky moves with that so-so throw from LF / Chris, you would've definitely been safe at 3rd. I had to corral that thing and bring it back from foul territory on my left over to you and the basepath on my right. I'm wondering, did I remain standing, or did I have my right knee on the ground, blocking the bag? Do you recall? But yeah, you should be in the running for sure.

Frankly I don't recall where you were :) Some things just get lost in the shuffle.

I think one of the most complementary things I heard was I think from Rob, who after I had gotten tagged out at 3rd came over to me and said "Jesus you got around 2nd fast." That made it all worthwile for me :)

Anyways, I'm not gonna think of myself as the best leadoff hitter till I start batting the way I did my last 2 at-bats last week on a consistent basis.

Not when you have reach power hitters like Carlos, Rico, Paul, and Coung around. I think Ken would be fine in the 3rd spot, but not the best place for him.

I'm gonna have to go with Scott or Peter, just because of how they were last game. Peter in the beginning didn't do so well, but near the end he came back, just like Rocky against Mr.T. and Scott, well I was talking to Mike and he said Scott can almost hit the ball in the weakness of the other team, so those are my picks.

I like hitting lead-off. It hasn't happened in a few months, and I really miss the opportunity to get out there and start things off right. Scott and Peter should check my lead-off stats to see if there's any substantial evidence to support my claim.
