So, in my previous topic, I asked what we should do, either have no lead offs, have defense pitch and allow leads/pickoffs, or have a designated marker showing how far of a lead one can take.

in a close race, those options got 3, 2, and 3 votes respectfully. So, now, we have a run-off between having lead-off markers, or still no leadoffs at all, even on the lager fields.

This poll won't make a final decision: its just a poll.

Also, I feel that any changes to create lead-offs will just apply to larger fields.

I don't think there should be any led-offs just for the reason with the pitching. Maybe a poll in defensive pitching or leave it how it is, should be made.

Yo, I've changed my mind, I'm now against lead-offs even with a marker. I'd rather move the bases in at Raimondi than allow leadoffs.

Imagine bases loaded........................ it will be very, very difficult to ensure people stick to the markers.


And as for the balks issue, when you're batting you don't want to have to take into account whether your baserunners were balked into leaning the wrong way. It doesn't take a dive back to the bag, only a lean, for a runner to be DOA at 2nd on a sharp basehit to CF.

We shouldn't fix what ain't broke. Move the bases in a bit at Raimondi if it remains an issue. But there's some merit to the notion that, when playing there, the majority of ground balls resulting in outs at 1st is a good thing, since the Raimondi experience involves going for MLB-like baseball.

After we've now played our first full 9 innings game at Raimondi, it seems clear that we don't need to allow leadoffs. The forceouts at 2nd only happened on routine grounders, and happened no more than would occur normally. And this was in wet conditions when people are inherently slower runners.


We saw someone go first to third on a basehit and make it (Kenyatte), and one come very close to making it (Daniel). And we also saw Peter score from 2nd base on a basehit to CF.

So, it appears the no-leadoffs rule isn't hurting baserunning that much.

I agree with you Scott, plus I think people know when to run just by sensing what type of hit it was, or if it's gonna drop or be caught.
