We were thinking October 29th (weather permitting, of course) at our place in West San Jose/Cupertino.

We ought to wait until the postseason is over with. Plus, we have to take into account the larger group of Oakland players... Let's look at mid November.

Scott,

Any chance we can vote? I'd like to think that if everyone wants to play the 29th that we should have that option no? I'd love to play these guys again as soon as possible because of how fun and exciting it was. Plus the weather is only going to get worse.

Just a thought.

C'mon, man. I'd love to play against them, too. However, if the A's manage to defeat the Tigers and go deep into the World Series, I know where I'm going to be. And it ain't San Jo. I know you're bitter the Yankees got knocked out, but I think it's worth the wait. Besides, it takes some time to organize something like this.

1. I went to the A's game last night and as Peter Rich is my witness I cheered my ass off for the A's. I even wore an A's shirt (Free for filling something out, I would never buy one. Let's not get carried away.) So as much as you'd like me to be bitter, you've picked the wrong Yankee fan. I've always said I'm a baseball fan, not a blind lemming who believes the Yankees should and will beat every team in their path.

2. I love your optimism about the A's chances.

3. I'm tired of doing the back and forth shit on this forum with so much room for misinterpretation. I'll share my thoughts on your position come Sunday.

well that is one hell of an if, dont get me wrong i want the A's to win as much as anyone but cmon lets be realistic, there is a less than 5% chance that will happen.

and yes if they make i wont be there either

Game 7 of the World Series is significant, even if the A's aren't involved. Playing another team means half our people don't get to play. It's not fun telling someone they don't get to play. This forum is not to be interpreted as a democracy for OPB. Continuity is a key to increase the consistentcy of turnout. There's a big picture to consider. And, I didn't start this for live games and partial playing time, there's plenty of leagues out there for that already. Sorry it's not how some people want, but that's the case.

Hey. I didn't mean to cause a stir. I was hoping that you guys wanted to play. But if we are messing up your "non-live" games, then don't even worry about it. This is supposed to be fun and inclusive. I would hope that any, and all, of you would try to make it. You saw that we had 3 or 4 players that were not at everyone else's level. It made the game fun. We just want to play baseball.

Hey, it's all good, BK, it's just tricky taking the larger group into account. No worries, it's just that playing you guys means 9-10 people can't participate. That's not a big issue unless we do it too often, that's why I'm suggesting mid November. It's a good idea, and it's fun, I just need to consider the larger group.

First of all, I know the decision is made. I'm not trying to debate it. Just wanted to express some thoughts on some of your reasons for not playing so soon.

Right about the World Series but Game 7??? NL's not exactly in it to win it every year.

About people not playing...who's decision was that? I for one, said that all OBP regulars who want to participate, should, especially before people we (I) see once every 3 months. I would be more than willing to start on the bench or go to it, in order to give someone else an opportunity to experience this change of pace.

Scott, partial playing time? C'mon, when healthy you and Nick would start somewhere on field in the next game and you know that. For all that you do for the league you're guaranteed to play all game if you want.

About continuity and consistency, when I asked if you thought the last challenge game had any carryover effect on the small turnout the following week you emphatically shot me down and ran-off various reasons for why people were not there. You thought the challenge game had "absolutely nothing to do with it." Maybe I'm more in tune than you might think my friend.

Organization time, the World Series, your league...can't really argue those points in terms of why we should wait. I respect that. Those guys (and girl) were cool and I'm excited for the opportunity to compete against them again. A little over-zealous, probably. But if I wasn't, would I really be me?
