at the game i noticed that there were a few plays were there was a fielder in the base paths. for example there was one play were peter was in my way at first (he had to come off the bag to field a way over throw) but him standing DIRECTLY in my way made the play close as opposed to safe. that was sorta understandable but there was another time where i felt he didnt "need" in between first and home. i know that at the plate i can just run over who ever is there. at first i am not so sure. so i was wondering i can run them over right? or do i have to move out of the way?

i wanted to ask before i started running into people.

Ask Derek Lee. The runner has every right to the basepath. Anyone or anything the way is game to be come roadkill.

Making a play on a batted ball, as opposed to a thrown ball? If that's right, then Rich could have legitimately barged Peter out of the way, since he was in the basepath to receive an errant throw, not field the ball in the first place.
Sounds reasonable to me.

That is correct.

Note: this concern was voiced to me regarding both 1B's from the game, not just Peter R. I agree with the above interpretations of who has right-of-way.

I'm never in the way intentionally. But I agree with above comments. Just plow me or whomever else over.

Rich... when was the 2nd time that I was in the way? I want to avoid being in the way when possible. Was I standing in the way during a hit or was it a time when we were trying to turn 2? I usually try to stand with my left foot on the edge of the bag that faces the infield.

yea and that asshole richard was in the basepaths like 10 times last game
