I intended to write something to remind everybody of my superior prowess.
If i recall correctly, one reason for this was that there is an impossible throw from behind that imaginary line to home plate. Third base can also be a difficult target from there, because of the fence.
Yes, this is different than the MLB rules, but because the MLB would never face an issue like a fence of this sort.
