Play ball! Then talk about it. Or vice versa.

Live Games - Balks

Post by Baseball=Life »

Hey, no need to really have a discussion about this, check it out, very simple:

On the live game from Sunday June 12, a rally to come back in the 9th was impacted by the defense balking. There were balks aplenty all day, both teams, and they weren't being called.

We need to move to where we call the balks, so batters and baserunners have a fair chance against the pitchers.

SO! Next live game I'll give a 5 minute tutorial before the game. It's very easy to explain... there are only a few fundamentals that cover most everything, enough for us to proceed.

Again, no need to have another balk discussion, I'll just do the tutorial, it will be clear to everyone no problem, and then we'll start calling them.

Obviously this is only relevant to the "live" games with real pitching, called balls & strikes, etc. [Once a month, usually 2nd Sunday.]

Yeah, there is, but that's a situation of Too Much Info. We want people to be able to understand, remember, and follow the rules. I can cover the 3 things that covers 95% of balk scenarios, and thus make it clear, memorable, and easy to follow. Don't bother looking for the MLB balk breakdown, it's written by lawyers. I'll hook everyone up in an easy to implement manner.
