Oakland Park Baseball

There are a couple of softball bats that I'd like to try using. Both are metal (aluminum). One is for slow pitch, the other is for fast pitch. Does anyone know if there is a down side to using them? Also, will a hard ball damage them?

One downside would be the thin barrel that all softball bats seem to have could make you pop up or foul more frequently.
I very much doubt the ball would damage them, certainly not during our non-live games.
