We are a 28+ team up in Sonoma County.
Most of our guys are diehard players that will do some travelling to play a decent game of baseball. We just want to play guys that love the game as much as we do.

That's our site...you can scout us once we get some stats up there.
Get your best team together and we'll cruise down to Oakland to show you guys how to get a good whoopin'

OK
Sounds good to me.
How would the team be chosen? And which field?

If I could make the team, I would relish playing these guys. Do they know we don't use defensive pitching? If they use it, we could have a big problem. Either they have to adjust to our way - pretty easy, but maybe they wouldn't like it. Too bad, since for us to do defensive pitching would be a pretty major adjustment to make for a competitive game. Amongst ourselves, with little pressure, we could give it a try, but it would take a while before we were confident to use it in a challenge game, where the stakes are high.
That said, I have always wanted to be a pitcher, myself, although recently I have had to acknowledge that I just don't have the arm I used to have. I'd be happy to give defensive pitching a try, but we'd need several others also willing to pitch for it to work.

I could still rock CF in any game, but may have an issue with the pitching

I would leave it up to Scott to make the teams. Remeber, we wouldn't need just 9... we'd need a bench, and all that.

I would be willing to give pitching a try, not sure what I can do but willing to give it a shot.

I would be willing to give pitching a try... and I have a buddy who was thinking of coming out who says he's a good pitcher.
I know I suck when it comes to lobbing it in there... but i did deliver 2 pretty good pitches (yes I do realize that's a useless sample size) when I was trying to put some heat on that at bat I pitched to Dorian.
baserunning (i.e. leads and stealing) would also be a pretty major adjustment. We would also need a catcher with an arm (a position I actually have experience at).
I think we could put a pretty good team together... Since we only have about 15 regulars anyway... it doesn't seem like anyone would have to be left out.
edit:
And that's assuming that all of our regulars are actually interested

Well, I am very competitive so of course I'd love for us to take on any and all comers. Actually BK said he has a similar group of guys from San Jose that wants to play us. They're not quite ready though, they still need to get some more guys.
Yes, the key would be are these Titans aware of and still interested in our style with team pitching? That's how we've always played. My guess is they would still have interest in playing, even in our style. These are apparently baseball fiends we're talking about, not unlike ourselves.
I've pitched before, but I pretty much suck too much to go more than a few innings. I think the same is true with Nick. So we'd maybe be able to string together a game with lots of people going an inning or two, but that would surely get pretty ugly as at least one person wouldn't be able to find the strikezone.
They challenged us, so they come here and play our rules of team pitching, that seems the logical answer.

I think we should see if we could throw together a pitching staff... I know that I would surely enjoy Kin a few fools from bumfuck no where

actin' like they're all big and shit (grumble grumble grumble).
More seriously though- I do think we should try and make the most of this (i.e. most realistic / most competative). If we CAN'T put together a pitching staff, that's one thing... but I'm confindent we'll be able to figure something out. it does take away a bit of the competative edge when the pitcher isn't trying to get you out...

Glad to see that there is sufficient interest in playing us.
We're a new expansion team up here organized by guys just like you who wanted to take on the better teams Sonoma County has to offer.
I have to say though, I hadn't read all the Jungle Rules at your park when I submitted my formal challenge. I agree with what TheLegend had to say about trying to pull a team together with pitching, catching and all the other aspects of baseball. Do you guys play on a softball field? We should schedule a game at a local high school or something so that we can make it official. Not because we need everything to be by the book, but because it makes every game that much more enjoyable.
Let me know what you guys come up with and chime in on our Bulletin Board at

"The Challenge", as it will be forever known as, will be the pinnacle moment of the DeFremery Park Baseball club. There will be hundreds in attendance cheering on the local guys in hopes of creaming an elite Wine Country team.
And, of course, we will win hands down - giving autographs to all those who want memorabilia of this glorious moment.
Let's get it on!
