Partly because of the colision with Paul, and partly because I always hurt on Mondays... but I think a whole lot of it has to do with playing 15 innings. I also noticed that the second game was rather lackluster. So, in conclusion- doubleheaders are probably not a good idea.

I for one had a blast, and would like see more double-hitters (even if the second game is abbreviated). In fact, after our games I went and played in another pickup game until dark, and was still wanting more. Can't wait until daylight savings time for longer days.
Maybe a goal for the summer is to have a sunrise to sunset series.

Oh, don't get me wrong... I always want more (and usually head off to football after our games finish) but I'm just saying... it might not be the best idea in the world.
What actually bothers me more is the impression of a rather half-hearted (or simply tired, presenting the same effect) second game. Maybe if we took a longer break in between the games... i.e. first game starts at 10 (ends by 1) and second game starts at 2. Going to football after baseball has never bothered me because I always have at least an hour between the two too relax and I feel refreshed by the time I get out to the football field.

Rob, whatever vitamins you're taking, I want some. I hurt in many places.
I really enjoyed the extra innings, the second game left me feeling good. I would welcome more than 9 innings every week. I second Ken's suggestion of a break inbetween games, I reckon at least 15 minutes, up to 30. More than that and we'd probably get ansy. I did like starting at 11, too. Maybe we could do that more often, it would make extra innings more possible.

I love the thread title. I'm with you.
I agree with Ken that there should be some time between games, but I think it's more important to stock up heavily on fluids before we play. I got tired for sure, but I also was way dehydrated. I noticed I got tired after the Gatorade (Thanks, Rich!) ran out.
A sunrise to sunset series is only possible if it has a barbecue. I will not accept it under any other terms, catering excepted.
15 Innings......

Yeah, I'm feeling it today as well. But, not really that much more than usual. Really, the reason I'm feeling the pain today is because I was a dumbass and forgot my cleats. This meant I couldn't stop rounding third and got caught in that pickle in between 3rd and Home. The headfirst slide I did (in addition to the other headfirst slide I did at 2nd earlier in the game) is what I'm feeling. I didn't perform it the right way, it was more of a belly flop. I landed pretty much on my knees, scraping the hell out of them as well as bruising them. And I keep making it worse by trying to cross my legs while sitting, only to smash one leg on the bruises of the other knee.
Anyway, the reason this happened to me was because I was trying to avoid tearing up my arms. So the knees paid the price. So now I just need to get some elbow-protective gear (and wear the fuckin' cleats), and this wont happen again.
Sorry, I should've written this in a journal, this info has no bearing to anyone else.
I definitely enjoyed playing more than the standard 9 innings, and I don't think the level of play fell off that much, beyond the normal occasional mental lapses, like forgetting to cover home. Don't forget the 2nd game ended with a near-webgem catch by James at SS.
11:00 start time is kinda tough though.

Hard to believe I "batted"9 times. Thought Curt Flood afforded a pretty good game against my prejudices from my childhood. Look forward to more games at this away field. I personally prefer the 12:00 oçlock starts. That allows (me) to get in some fielding before the games... 11 Oçlock, I get right there and while I love mornig baseball... 10Óçlock would be too early for (me) as I like to go worship on Sumday morning...
Please no "religion is a crutch for the weak" jokes
