Whatever happened to those good ole' threads. They made for some intresting reading and reply. Scott- Laney is probably - not probably but definetly out of the question. Going back to when I was a wee youngsta, that field stays locked although you could hop the fence above the dugouts. Even if the gates were unlocked or you hopped the fence, the Sherriff patrols that entire campus including the athletic fields hourly. Laney is very protective of their fields- almost to the point of being bitch ass about it. The A's were thinking of a beautiful stadium there http://www.oaklandfans.com/ballpark/par ... gePlan.JPG where of course the college would also have full access and the AD Stan Peters had a coronary. I've never even seen Little Leagues play there. Just Laney and the Oakland-SF 3 game HS championship. Curt Flood may have been ab aberration last week as they were still having tryouts and such last week according to the Tribune. Most of their games are on Saturday. I still think Raimondi would be more fun or at least a nice distraction from Flood. Even though it's bigger, the wind blows off the Bay towards the fences at Raimondi thus helping the homerun factor. While the wind blows across the field away from the LF and CF fences at Flood.

Although I agreed with Scott about DeFremery in the March threads, I'm with Ken now as DeFremery is just getting too small for us (in my opinion).

I'm obviously not a homerun hitter, but too many people are now hitting balls into yards accross the street and off the house across the street (Really- I'm not jealous  ) . Carlos and Will when they feel like it, hit homers at will to right (although Flood offers no solution to that). I would like to hear how others honestly feel about it. Although I know that DeFremery baseball is here to stay.[/url]

That would've been awesome to have the new A's stadium at Laney. But I'll take it anywhere in Oakland, I hope Wolff is serious about finding the dough to build here.

About DeFremery, it's not so easy... even Will of the 19 RBI is only hitting .500. He went 2/5 with no extra basehits last Sunday. The defensive shifts make a difference for the pull power hitters, we see proof of this often.

I think that the only thing that needs to change from the status quo would be one rule change: if you've hit a homerun at DeFremery before, you have to use a wood bat. It would renew each season, so if you haven't hit a HR at DeFremery in Season 2 so far, you can keep using metal. But once you hit one, you have to use wood from then on until the next season. This would bring down the HRs. Another reason this needs to happen is because of the reality that we can't afford to break some windows or get those people upset.

I think DeFremery is less than ideal, but workable. Really to me the issues aren't with hitting but with baserunning, especially coming around third, and coming into home. There's not much room for an on-deck hitter to stand to signal to the incoming runner where to slide, and you have to round 3rd carefully or you end up in the dugout.

Anyway, like you said, Curt Flood will probably be available, so we can just go with the normal (majority CF) schedule. And if CF isn't available this Sunday, we should hit up Raimondi. People should check the main page of the website to see Field Conditions/Status at 9:30 AM Sunday morning, and read/print out details/directions from the reminder email you'll get at the end of this week.

Hey ...............

Curt Flood and Raimondi are both in use today September 25th.

So we need to use DeFremery.

I verified with the permitted users at Curt Flood that they have "away" games next week. So next week will definitely be a "live" game at Curt Flood.

Their season ends in 3 weeks as well. So we'll only be inconvienced by this twice more, the October 9 and October 16 games. Then Curt Flood is wide open again.

Too bad I read this now, after driving all the way to Curt Flood and waiting for an hour. Would have been nice if we could have at least met there, and then gone to Defremerey. Now I am wondering if I should even go to DEfremery late, since there probably wont be a doble header (I am assuming).

This is a good opportunity to reemphasize what to expect on Sundays.

Since the main field and backup field were in use, this morning I updated the www.parkbaseball.cjb.net site to reflect that "Both Fields [Were] In Use, Go To DeFremery" at 9:30.

Look for this information on the right hand column of the main page, in red. It gets updated at 9:30 AM, every Sunday morning.

I also sent out another mass email stating the field change, and called people for whom I had numbers.

I'm thinking that I might turn my home phone answering machine into a Field Status Hotline where you can call and listen to the message to verify which field and/or whether or not the conditions are playable. If I do that, I"ll mention it in the next email.

Also, since we had to play DeFremery today, next week will be Curt Flood (live).

I was informed by the organizer of the football at Curt Flood that their season is ending in 2-3 weeks. So we can play there next week (they're playing an away game, so it's clear), then we can go back there on a more permanent basis starting October 23rd. We'll probably have a DeFremery game on the 9th or the 16th, and possibly even an off week. Always check the website, and the emails.

Last but not least, I spoke with the person who runs DeFremery Park. We need to make some small changes to protect the neighbors as well as comply with the rules. I'll send this information out in an email when we have the next game there.

I swear I looked at the main page and it said Curt Flood (Live).... I checked it at 9 before I left, and then I checked it again at 11:30 when I got home.

There's a 15-second refresh at parkbaseball.cjb.net so make sure you let the page refresh before leaving

That definitely was not working last week. I think there is something weird with the server being used, because it seems like the actual site was changing a few hours late. Even when I refreshed it last week, it did not have then info Scott said was on there, until hours later.

For example, every time he said the boxscore page was updated, the page with the boxscore links on it woul not actuall have the link on it for a few hours. I would have to just type in the URL manually, knowing the URL by the date.

If you use Mozilla, you will soon learn the glorious chant of "This Frame > Reload Frame."

Unfortunately, the way cjb does their sites means you can't just click "Refresh" on your browser. You have to manually right-click and choose to refresh. I know it's a pain in the ass, so that's why I've improved the main page refresh to 8 seconds. (That's a 50% cut! Sell it for CASH!) However, if you're looking for a certain boxscore while the page refreshes, you'd lose your place. So that's why the boxscore page does not refresh automatically.

one vote for emery.

I think it's also important to keep the dimentions of the infield in consideration, not only the dimentions of the entire field.

thanks ant for the images

About those dimensions, I can't remember where to find them. If someone could link to that thread, it'd rock.
I intended to write something to remind everybody of my superior prowess.
