May 15 Players of the Game
Scott, you relayed to me and I threw to Ken to get Paul on what would have been his second ITP HR. It was a double relay from Deep center, and Ken made a great catch and tag on the one hop throw.. That was a great play.

Yeah, Pat, I'm not talking about that double-relay play where you nailed Paul at home. The play I'm talking about was definitely PRIOR to that one you're describing, so it had to either be Paul's successful ITP HR or perhaps the play on which Will scored, because I don't think there were any plays at home besides those two (again, referring to the period of the game prior to you nailing Paul at home in like the 3rd).
I remember making that play at home close despite being far out in RF.

"NAILED AT HOME IN THE 3rd"
This discussion brings up a thought Nick & I were discussing.
Many of you may have noticed the new boxscores. They're not only much more user-friendly and legible than the old boxscores, they also feature players-of-the-game for both teams, as well as a Notes section on the righthand side.
The thought Nick & I had was: Should we put in the Notes section when someone is "NAILED AT HOME IN THE 3rd" (or whatever inning). Because that, to me, is a key moment in a game.
For instance, when Paul was nailed at home in the game, that was the turning point in the game, momentum-wise. At that point, Paul/Peter's team was winning 7-4. From that point on, Scott's team outscored Paul/Peter's 12-3.

I'm glad I'm jumping into this thread at the right time, since what Scott just said corresponds with the point I would have like to have made earlier (like after the third post.) The reason Paul did not get Player of the Team was because he was only 2/5 (under .500) and after being nailed at home for what would have been the second ITP HR, his bat turned to ice. It was a huge shift in momentum for the game.
And regarding Rich's play, it was physically identical to Eric Chavez's play against Boston in Game 1 of the 2003 ALDS where he had to crawl to 3rd base in extra innings for the third out.
