Nicholl Park

Post by mp1045 »

Hey guys,
The company I work for is doing sound at the dedication ceremony today for the SF Giants newest inner city baseball revival project: Nicholl Park!

Get down there to help boo benitez. This may make for a very nice field!
Michael P.

Prior to Thursday's first pitch, the Giants Community Fund, Good Tidings Foundation, Chevron Richmond Refinery and Giants pitcher Armando Benitez will unveil the newly renovated Junior Giants Field at Richmond's Nicholl Park on MacDonald Avenue at 33rd Street. The four partners contributed the funds to make the $200,000 project a reality this summer. Attending the ceremony will be Benitez, Giants President and Managing General Partner Peter Magowan, Giants Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Larry Baer, Mayor Irma Anderson of Richmond, Richmond Junior Giants Commissioner Frank Lacy and Assistant Commissioner Larry Lewis.

How could that field be ready so soon? A week and a half ago it was all dirt.

Will we still be able to play there or will the improved quality lead to more use?

That's crazy--this just happened to us with the McConnell field (now Rickey Henderson Field) in Oakland. I wonder what's next--the Anaheim Angels come up here and re-do Curt Flood?!?!?

Good question about how it will impact availability, we shall see.

Yeah, it's amazing how fast a crew can finish a job when it isn't CalTrans / Tudor-Saliba.
