Leather balls
Leather balls
Hey, we all like the leather balls and hate the synthetics, but they are expensive, and only last a few games, and some get lost here and there. We can't keep relying on the kindness of certain individuals to provide us with the good balls.
I propose an equipment fund, which would mostly just cover balls, but maybe bases and the like now and then. If we all chipped in as little as 50c, maybe $1, per Sunday, each, we could keep ourselves well provided for. If 18 people show up and chip in 50c, that's $9 already. Well, for about $20-25 I can get a dozen leather balls on ebay. Some would chip in $1 for want of change (none would be given, bitches!) or simply for the love of the game, so we'd be able to buy a dozen balls every other week. Should be enough. The more people put in $1, the more likely we could replace bases and such things when necessary.
Come on people, fifty stinking cents! I think that's the bargain of the century for at least nine innings of hardball.

Good call, good idea. People should kick down a buck a game, it would really help with things like the baseballs. For instance, I regularly end up giving mucho bucks for various things.... the bases cost me $50 for example. So, let's take this idea and go with it... "Bring A Buck to the Game"!

I just bought a box of nice leather balls which I'll bring next time.
btw, all baseball people should check out West Coast Sporting goods in San Leandro. There are 2 stores and between the 2 they have a ton of baseball stuff (it's all baseball). For instance a 100 ft wall of nothing but gloves. Thousands of wood and aluminum bats, a huge collection of catchers gear, etc.

Not averse to chipping in for baseballs, bases, chalk, or whatever equipment... the dollar or two per game could also be used for a big 5 gallon jug of gatorade, or whatever and cups and such. Hey we could even have Dorian's lady friend bring us a bucket or two of funky fried...
So whenever I'm able to get back to play... count me in to pinch in...
Sidebar... Paul did I ever give you your $2 bucks change from the batting cage ? If I didn't let me know. My apologies if I hadn't.

$1 whole dollar per game? Sounds like.... just kidding, Shit I am down. If you have some official fund box at the game that goes towards balls and such, I would (and maybe some other people) be willing to make extra donations above the one dollar. But that said, if someone can't get ahold of $1 than we do not want to be exluding them. This is a game for everybody. Maybe it could be like a museum, suggested MINIMUM donation $1 (more is always welcome). As long as all the money goes toward equipment I do not see why we sould not be able to fund our self with enough money for a dozen balls and some gatorade every week. extra money could go into a fund for things like bases, etc. and maybe new stakes.

Imagining Paul saying that in his British accent just doesn't sound right.tallguy wrote:[change] (none would be given, bitches!)
Yeah, I think we need to take steps to keep it out of his hands. The man is out of control. Sad, really.Southpaw Slim wrote:We all know Scott's gonna blow the cash on hookers and drugs.

Leathers' balls
You guys are fucking hilarious, how did you all know about my addiction to hookers and crizz-ack? It's the only way I can remain focused enough to play baseball on a weekly basis.gohlkus wrote:Yeah, I think we need to take steps to keep it out of his hands. The man is out of control. Anyway, you guys have fun on Sunday, I'll be camping up in the Gloryhole! (Ask Nick, Jason, etc.) Yeah, I'm bringing with me plenty of hookers and drugs, though I don't see why I'd need the hookers considering it's the Gloryhole.
PS: I'm so glad we don't have women playing with us (or using this forum) anymore.
