Spamming CJB.NET Bastards

Well, good news guys.
I shelled out the $20 to get rid of those lame pop-up ads that came with the
www.parkbaseball.cjb.net site. So we won't have to deal with those ads for a year now. It's weird, because I'm already paying $5 a month for the site--I'm surprised they're making me shell out even more dough.
Oh wait, I'm not surprised, they're a bunch of profit-hungry, exploitative corporate assholes. I should've known.
I'll just say in advance.....you're all welcome. Not a problem.

Nice one, commish.
Yeah, fuck those corporate assholes! Fight the power!
Or, pay them off once a year! But only once a year, dammit!

Thanks so much!
The other option was go go on yahoo, and get a real domain name for our site, but this is great!

Thanks Scott! That's much better. I still think we should lose the periodic page refresh. (see my new topic in , sorry for the wrong forum, General) We're not tracking stock prices...are we?? But, yeah thanks. A big problem with the refresh was that the popups would continually pop-up! Still, we could lose the circa 1965 stobe light...

I must be ignorant because I don't really follow what you're saying, Dave. I hear you on how it's somewhat annoying to have that screen flash at you.
It comes down to whether or not Nick is willing to set up the auto-refresh each Sunday morning or not. I've never handled that aspect of the site, so I don't know how difficult or easy it is to do.
Perhaps someone else would be willing to do that first thing Sunday morning? I can easily give you the login/password info to edit the site if so. (Dave?) All that would be necessary is for that person to either come every Sunday, or let Nick and I know ahead of time if you weren't coming and we'd need to handle it ourselves.
The reason this was set up is, as you speculated, people would check the site and not get the latest info on Sunday mornings. You simply cannot trust people to refresh the frame on their own---people don't understand what that means. I've tried that already.

C'mon in to the 21st century and use Firefox. Leave freakin IE alone. I know not of these refresh and constant popup problems.

Ahh... then you must be well acquainted with the "This Frame > Reload Frame" song. If not, you should ask Scott to perform it some time.

Many of us have cell phones... why not SMS/email the field conditions to people who can receive SMS or emails or IM's on the phone. My Blackberry blows up (apparently not for long thanks to that America Jr. company and their patent claim) with the Parkbaseball updates.
It's high time we use all this technology for some good... BASEBALL !!!

Hey, I'm more than happy to use whatever medium to tip people off about conditions... but first you have to tell me how to do it. I know nothing about these newfangled gizmos. I just have a regular cell phone, no camera even. So, please clarify and I'll try to make it happen... pretty much anything to increase turnout.

This is a good idea. Though I missed it back then, it would be interesting to see if there's a way we can do this en masse.

I expect to get a new phone soon... plus Nick and I have talked about making this happen as recently as last week. So it might just happen in the near future.

I've been really busy getting married and what not. Also I've been all over our wonderful state chasing West Nile Virus reports in places like Rough and Ready, Chico, Bakersfield, Watsonville and other fair cities and towns of our wonderful state heretoforth only heard about in Steinbeck novels. On a more serious note, I'm taking a sabbatical from season 6. I feel the real need to lose some weight. I'm beginning to feel like Cecil Fielder and John Kruk after a baseball awards all you can eat buffet. I may come by and practice with you folks on Thursday though.
