Well, fuck yeah, the A's did it!!!!! Now we get a long rest before facing either Tigers or Yankees. My favorite thing about this game is that it was a blowout........... very decisive.
Quit underestimating the fuckin' A's beotches!!!!!

Go A's. Lookin' good boys, lookin' real good.
Well, I know you don't want to go through the Tigers to get to the Series so help me cheer on the Yanks for the rest of this series. That's all I ask.
Zumaya & Verlander throw absolute gas....with movement...not right.
A-Rod's first and final at-bats were painful to watch because on TV you had a clear view of the fact that he was set-up perfectly by both pitchers and really there is no one who would have escaped those AB's with hits. Unfortunately the home fans couldn't get that perspective and figured it was just A-Rod fucking up ... AGAIN. For his mental state, I hope he does something tonight.
Mets are lookin' scrappy.

As in, it would be more gratifying to get to the series through the Yankees than, as it might be now, through the Tigers. Not as in you fear the Tigers.Pat K wrote:Why the F/#@77 would we rout for the Yanks? You wrote on Tuesday,
" Easy playa... you want no part of the Bronx!!!" thats 1,2,3 apostrophes. Now we don't want to go through the Tigers. ?????????
FYI- no A's fan I know (I know alot of them) will be routing for the damn Yankees!!!
I'll breakdown the Tiger victory tomorrow with you guys while you shit all over me.
Let me say one thing, and the proof is somewhere in this forum because I argued with Scott about it, I am the only person who gave the Tiger's pitching staff it's props and predicted they would be tough to hit. I also discussed the negative impact Sheff and Matsui (as well as the removal of Melky as a result) would have on the chemistry and balance of the team. That lineup is great to look at on paper and to boast about as a fan but a true fan recognized how well they played without those guys, how many runs they scored without them, how good Cano was as a 6 hitter and how a month would not be enough time for Sheff and Matsui to find their place and rhythm. Have fun with the Tigers. The pitching matchups all the way through to the bullpens should be awesome and I guess the key will be the A's pitching staff making the Tigers go back to their free swinging ways by throwing strikes, unlike the Yankees staff outside of Wang, and the Tigers staff making the A's aggressive in the same way they approached the Yanks.
P.S. While it killed me as a fan, as a person that Tiger celebration was pretty cool (nice job by Fox finally) and Jim Leyland is awesome. He completely outmanaged Torre, which I know is a common theme these days.
P.P.S. Don't discount the effect Pudge had on this series with his baseball experience and accumen alone. He beat the Yankees in a grander stage already, he knew what he was doing back there.

One intangible that may be over looked in this ALCS is that the A's are no longer the young starry eyed pups of '00-'04. Chavy and Zito especially should be more mature and "big game ready". Other vets such as Payton, Thomas and others have playoff experience.
Rogers old ass scares me as he does the A's. Bonderman always enjoys playing against the team that drafted him. This series will again be about who pitches better (overused overstated cliche alert). I'm becoming a big fan of Zoom Zoom...
None the less Let's Go Oakland !!!!!

It was great being there for the sweep, especially after being present in all the recent postseason chokes since 2000. Finally, some redemption! After Scutaro knocked yet another 2-out RBI double, this time clearing the bases and blowing the game/series open for the A's, I put on a stupid baseball mask my mom bought me for Xmas last year. It's halloween style, as in it covers your whole head and looks ridiculous. She gave it to me as a joke, and would never have thought I'd actually use it. Anyway, I put it on, got out my broom to wave around, and began running all over the stadium getting other A's fans excited, yelling "4 more outs!", "3 more outs!" etc.
If we can get past the Tigers, I'll be going to my first World Series games since 1985!!!!!!!!
And, props Dan, your assessment of the Tigers pitching staff a few months ago is looking a lot better than mine right now, no doubt about that.

While an ALCS vs. the Yanks would have been interesting, I'm still more deathly afraid of their lineup than the Tigers' pitching. Yeah, the Tigers made em look silly, but that Yankees lineup is not something easily contained.
Don't forget, home field advantage was also at stake here. I really wouldn't wanna play 4 games in New York, and the road games in Detroit aren't going to be as rough as it would have been in NY.
