Without checking stats, I'm going to go possibly on Helton and Walker, no on the other two. Of course, the key issue with guys like this is how the Coors Field variable will be seen by HOF voters. I think the Away stats for all these guys will be crucial in their viability.

Helton has very good numbers away from Coors Field, and Walker put up good numbers whatever team he played on (Montreal, Colorado, and St. Louis)

If Helton's back holds up then I think he'll make it a pretty obvious yes.

I'm gonna have to say no on Walker though I don't want to but damn if only he could have stayed healthy.

No on the other two.

Notice How Similar Galarraga and Walker's career numbers are:
(and keep in mind Galarraga played only 5 seasons in Colorado, not Walker's 10 years)

AVG
Galarraga; .288
Walker; .313

HR
Galarraga; 399
Walker; 383

RBI
Galarraga; 1425
Walker; 1311

H
Galarraga; 2333
Walker; 2160

SB
Galarraga; 128
Walker; 230

R
Galarraga; 1195
Walker; 1355

Just food 4 thought.

That's pretty interesting. I didn't realize the Big Cat's numbers were as close to (and occassionally surpassing) Walker's as they are.

I'm bummed that Galarraga didn't get to hit his 400th HR before retiring.

PS: Hope your election went well, Peter.

I also did a comparison at MLB.com and both guys have numbers that are very comporable, if not surpassing Joe D.

I might have to say yes on both based on that alone.

Wow! Joe D only had 30 stolen bases!

Not an attack on the Yankees, but it's far to admit that playing in pinstripes helps your chances of being a legend in the Hall of Fame.

What if he had spend that time with the St. Louis Browns?

Absolutely agree with you. I was amazed to know that Joe D's numbers aren't far from the two guys we're discussing. Guess it's all the rings that make him the legend he is and people always mention this aura of royalty he gave off but never intentionally.

Being a Yankee certainly helps. Not in Mattingly's case but I don't think he deserves it anyway. Now, Bernie there's a debate.

could joe d's 55 game hitting streak have something to do with it?

that single season record will be in place for a very, very, very long time.

some individual achivements are ALMOST hall worthy. Like deion sanders being the only guy to play in a mlb game and then change and play a nfl game in the same day!!!!!! Or the the only person to play in both the world series and the super bowl!!! GOD DAMN!

i know his stats arent good enough for the hall but those accomplishments are absoletly amazing. He was an above avgerage baseball playerand a great football player. And i wasnt like he was bad at one, like michael jordan (baseball).

And don't forget an important point, guys. That dude banged Marilyn Monroe, so he's definitely better.

Bernie Williams is awesome. I love that he's playing so much now with all the injuries to NY. Who would've expected this scenario a few years ago? And as much as I still am skeptical about the clutch hitting concept, it's hard call it a "right time, right place" scenario when you look at Bernie's postseason numbers. Oh, wait, my mistake, I'll wait for the Yankees installment of this HOF series.
