Moises Alou is going to be out 4-6 weeks for the sprained ankle. I wonder how many games further below .500 the Giants will be by the time he comes back? Who can take up the slack and protect Bonds?

They should put Finley there again, unlike Feliz he rarely strikes out, and also rarely GIDP. Sure he rarely homers, but he almost always puts it into play, which I know you A's fans will agree is more important. With 0 or 1 out, Finley is a very reliable bet for a sac fly at the least, if not a single up the middle, he does that quite a lot, or a double or triple to the power alleys. He is tied for the most triples in the Majors right now, with 6.
Alou Sr is changing the order almost every night, so we will hopefully see this configuration again soon.

Pedro has come through in a big way. Plus, Bonds is about to have back-to-back days off, and then 3 games as a DH. He'll be fine and right after that! A week of rest!

Plus, I must point out that the "Sad" NL-West now have all 5 teams over .500. HA!

I kinda know why you would say that, but I think it is because is some ways, I feel like the NL teams are richer for the first time in a while. St. Louis, NY, Houston w/ Roger, all are gonna have a chance at the division. I'd rather the Giants play Detroit or even the Yankees in the first round of the playoffs than St Louis or the Mets.

The Yankees (even these injured Yankees) would stomp you beyond recognition.

Anyway, I'm not saying that they would not. But get over it: these are not the Yankees of old; they are old. Sure, they can mash, but they can't pitch, their outfield defense is painful to watch at best, and their closer can't put on his shoes.

I can't stress enough how Feliz, day in and day out, is playing the best 3B the Giants have had in a long time, and is a serious choice for a gold glove (at least well in the conversation). He has lead a turnaround with he Giants where their gloves have picked them up so many times.

In late innings, for example, we have from left to right Ellison, Finely, and Wynn. That's a very very talented group!

aww, come one, we all know feliz doesn't hit enough to get a gold glove, and these days, you do have to hit. i haven't seen him play lately, so i'll reserve judgement, but the feliz i remember was just pretty good, not spectacular.

sorry. i'm still bitter that a-rod got the gold glove over mike bordick when bordick set a record for most chances w/out an error at SS, and only made 1 error all year. 1 error, in lots of chances (four hundred something). sigh. he even hit alright. 270 something, no power. remember the days when gold gloves were won with the glove? bloody a-rod.

You are right: Feliz was good. What he has done is learnt how to time everything better. EVERY DAY he is making at least one (often a few) diving or sliding play, and making good, off-balance throws.

peter i gotta agree with daniel here the yankees are still good, they have the best infield, damon pretty good to and then you got 2 rookies. and isnt sheffeild coming back soon?

and their pitching isnt as bad as everyone thinks, they got mussina who is 7-1 with a 2.42 era and 70 k's, and then there is wang 5-2 with a 4.5 era and 27 k's, and jaret wright who is 3-3 with 4.12 era and 21 k's

and seth i feel your pain about bordick it was probalbly the best year of his career and he got nothing.

oh and peter pujols isnt just a hitter he is also a damn good defensive player too, he might not be the best but i would bet that he is in the top 3. also did you know that pujols played 3rd and left field, 3rd aint quite a cake walk

I am not saying that he isn't good. But show me one person who would say "Pujols" and "Gold Glove" in the same sentance if he was hitting .245 with 2 HRs. Gold gloves are given often to guys who are hitting, period. It's a shame.

Need an example? J.T. Snow avergaed 21 HRs & 91 RBIs for the 6 years he won Gold Gloves while having very good battig averages in 4 of those years.

well peter j.t. snow is known as a great defensive 1st baseman, i never thought he was that great but then i never knew he put up those kinda of numbers. and also a good defensive 1st baseman, who the fuck cares 1st baseman should be power hitters, like i dont understand why shortstops have to over .300 with 20hr and 90rbis to be considered good or great. just catch the ball and throw to first, we have 8 other players to hit. back in the day a great hitting shortstop hit like 280.


but you are typically golden gloves are handed out to the best defensive player with a bat. i guess no one cares about being a silver slugger
