AL Gold Gloves

Post by retep »

Now, I don't watch much AL ball... is Teixeira that good of a fielder? I have a high standard for first abse defense (due to watching Snow) and my presumtion is that Teixeira is winning the award because of an issue that happens now and again: gold glove awards often ignore better defesnive but not as well known fielders, because of the fame that comes with offense.

However, I am hoping to be proved wrong! :D

He's definitely a gold glove caliber first baseman. I saw him in person several times, he had a great year on the field. Great range, perfect tosses to pitchers coming over to cover.

Actually, if you take out Soriano, that entire infield is good defensively, despite being known for the bats. Hank Blaylock will probably win a gold glove some day at 3B if Chavy gives him a chance. Michael Young is a good SS.
