Dynasties don't just go away....... no matter who is signed
It's hard to not still give the NL East to the Braves.
How many times must we claim that "this is the end of the Braves era" and be proven wrong to realize that Bobby Cox, John Schuerholz, Chipper and Andrew Jones, Smoltzie, etc. are not just going to go away? Never mind all those crazy rookies they have.
Seriously, how many pundits have been wrong about the Braves' chances in the NL East in the last 5 years? The answer: probably 95%
Last year, even with the Beltran/Pedro signings by the Mets, I still called the NL East for the Bravos at the beginning of the season.
It would be a mistake, and an indication that you don't know history, to claim the Braves won't be a major contender in the NL East.
13 Division Titles in a row, the most in all the major sports. DYNASTY!!!!!
And, don't get me wrong, I'm a Mets fan too, but we must remember history.

Well, my friend and fellow Giants aficionado, you have to agree it's pretty funny. Billy Beane always comes up with hilarious remarks. I believe I'll start a new thread now on my criticisms of Giants fans. See you there.

Well, as a history major....Baseball=Life wrote:

I must say that, while I agree that Atlanta will be hard to beat, you can't only look how that one team has faired over the years. In baseball, as in the real world, there are cycles of leaders that come and go. These eras can lost so long that people forget that breaking these cycles is possible, and is to some degree inevitable... at some point.
This year? We'll see, but the Mets are posing the strongest challenge to the Braves as we have seen in a few years. Besides, I would take 2 NL East titles and 2 rings for all of those playoff trips and little glory.
In other issues...
Its not funny if it is not true. BeeGees? Ugh! Also, don't judge Giant fans by the rick punks who make up 60% of the crowd. Most fans can't go! (same will happen to you if you get a new ball park)Baseball=Life wrote: Well, my friend and fellow Giants aficionado, you have to agree it's pretty funny. I am gonna pre-empt that thread!Baseball=Life wrote: I believe I'll start a new thread now on my criticisms of Giants fans. See you there.
You said yourself that you were impressed about how the Giants fans keep selling out games, and KEPT COMING, despite having a miserable season, and with no Barry Bonds.
What about when Barry came back. Yes, the fans went back to their ADD was. However, say Frank Thomas in his first year on the team makes a massive comeback, rakes 60 HRs, and leads the A's back to great glory. I would find it hard to believe that the A's fans would not become very excited about their one powerful star, while of course still loving their team.

Yeah, you're right insofar as the discussion has already been had.
No, I would boycott all A's games if any one player got too good, I just can't support elitism. Just kidding, of course I'd go and love it. I never have faulted Giants fans for being entertained by Barry Bonds. I've enjoyed it myself (Bonds 2002 Giants)
And a point I never made before is a person buying a ticket (ie sitting in a seat) is contributing to the gate, which contributes to the team, which feeds into my daily baseball diet. Like, for me, a team moving away, that's going to be really terrible. So I'm actually even pro-this small minority of fans I dislike at Giants games (you know the type, late-showing, early-leaving, disinterested, etc.)....... I want them to attend as well, let's fill the seats.
I think your other point about dynasties coming to an end is less persuasive. Braves will win NL East in 06.
