The Hottest And Coldest Teams In Baseball

Post by Southpaw Slim »

The team en fuego right now is the Texas Rangers with a 9-game winning streak. The second best in their past 10 are the Cleveland Indians (8-2). Honorable mention goes to the Padres with a 21-6 record for the month of May.

The best team on the road this year is the Baltimore Orioles, being the only team to win more than twice as many games as they lost (14-6, .700). The St. Louis Cardinals have won exactly twice as many (16-8) and are atop the NL with a .647 (33-18) winning percentage.

The best home team is the San Diego Padres with an 18-4 (.818) home record. The Chicago White Sox are the best in the AL with a 17-6 home record. They also have the highest winning percentage in baseball (35-17, .673). The Atlanta Braves are close behind with a 17-7 home record and are tied for first with the Florida Marlins in the NL East.

The strongest division is the NL East, winning 10 more total games than lost and, more surprisingly, with all 5 teams within .070 of each other.

------------------------------------

The worst team right now would have to be the Kansas City Royals (14-37, .275). They're tied with the A's for the worst performance in their past 10 (2-8) although the A's snapped their 8-game slide and are making a turnaround with some players coming off the DL. The Giants, however, have the worst losing streak with 5 consecutive let-downs to put them 9 behind the Padres and .

The worst team on the road this year is the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with an abysmal 3-20 (.130) away record. Quick, name the other 4 clubs to have lost 20+ on the road. I've already mentioned the A's and the Royals (8-20 and 6-20, respectively). Still guessing? Try this on for size. I'm sure you've already thought of the anemic Houston Astros (5-22), but the other skid mark is the Colorado Rockies with a 4-23 away record (.148).

The worst team at home this year would be the Kansas City Royals at 8-17 (.320) and the only team besides the Pittsburg Pirates yet to win 10 at home (9-13, .409).

The division easiest to beat is the NL Central, losing 10 more games total than won. This is thanks to the Cincinatti Reds and the Houston Astros.
