MVP 2005 rocks!

I got it yesterday... played it a few times with my buddy... it seems a little slower than last years game...

I haven't really checked out all the new features yet though... I'll get back to you on that later

The thing about that game is that it sucks compared to Baseball Stars.

No way... the game is far, far smoother than last year's. Plus, they got rid of the fact that on a PC, there was no slide button!! There was also the problem of runners forgetting to touch home on last year's game. I lost about 7 games in my last season on plays at home where the guy missed home! Agh!

Plus, this game has Kruk and Kipe, the best broadcasters around!

well, I have an x-box... so maybe the differences are platform based.

I meant to bring the manual to work with me today so I could "study"... oh well... I guess I'll have to work instead...

I plaed MVP on a Play Station, and he had the same issue. Maybe the X-Box is faster?

I played MVP 2004. Went through an entire season, playing as the Cubs. Had a pretty good year, made it to the NLCS where I lost. And then, for no particular reason whatsoever, every single one of my players decided to get worst then the year before. Kerry Wood, Mark Prior? Yeah, they each had 20 win season, ERAs between 2.00-3.00. Both of them got distinctly worst. Then I stopped playing.

on MVP 2004, I used the dynasty mode alot. Sometimes, not even playing: just acting as the GM.

I had the Giants. I did a fantasy pick (so that you don't have the normal teams) and I had the 15th pick. I centered my team around Vernon Wells and Jose Guillen. God damn, thier careers were inflated! Wells ended with about 950 HRs (playing untill he was 44) and had 8 MVP awards!

In 22 seasons, I had 20 100+ win seasons, and won 18 world series, incluindg 7 in a row.

That's a problem with those games... after a while, you know how to manipulate it.

See, I actually went and played an entire season through. Or well most of a season, simulated like 30 games or so. That's why it was so heartbreaking seeing all my players start sucking.

yeah, that's why I stopped playing Madden 05 a few months ago.

I'm a football junky and Madden is a great game, but it's soooo hard if you don't manipulate the shortcomings in the AI and soooo easy if you do. I sure hope they make drastic imrpovements in '06.

Yeah, i do full seasosn too. But it was still sad when the player's began doing worse... seeing their star fade

It's such a shame you guys don't know about Baseball Stars. It beats the pants off of these newfangled games, even though it came out in '92.

How so, Scott?

It has 3 primary advantages:

#1 Playability: Since it's on the old NES, there's only 2 buttons and the direction pad. You can learn to play quickly, and become a decent player pretty quickly. And, despite it's apparent simplicity, 2 games are never even close to the same.

#2 Home Run Robbery: You can rob HRs in stars by climbing the wall and perching up there with your glove raised, or you can try to time a jump to snag that would-be HR.

#3 Realistic: It's amazing how realistic this game is. Yes, it's old Nintendo, but I swear to you it's as realistic (if not more) than the modern games.

I love the damn game, both Baseball Stars 1 (1989) and Baseball Stars 2 (1992). I still have it in my living room, ready to play. There are many people, actually, whom have played the new games and feel they compare poorly to Baseball Stars.

The tricky part is finding people who are in the know about it, and/or whom have the set up to play it. Nick & I both have the skills and the setup.

I can't decide if I should laugh because you have an NES or cry because I don't. Vintage systames are cool.
