So, Jason, can we have avatars for our Profiles on this site, or am I way out of line?

Note that I have an avatar, so yes. the board does allow you to use any image for your avatar (hosted elsewhere) that you want, assuming it's 80X80 or smaller (I may make that slightly larger). Otherwise, if you have an image you want me to host for an avatar, just ask me to host it, and I'll be glad to.
I'm working on finding ready-made avatar packs to upload. I don't really want to spend a ton of time making a bunch of new ones (though maybe I'll make a few A's avatars).

The stuff that's out there and readily available is definitely lowest common denominator. (Or it's anime, which is even worse.)
Edited to add: However, Google Image Search makes things insanely easy.
So -- go under "Profile" and pick an avatar from the gallery if you want. Your team not there? Let me know.

is my avatar size going to be a problem?
I can probably find something a bit smaller if it is.

Yeah, I was going to disallow avatars hosted elsewhere, because then I don't have control over size.
I think I'm going to allow two options: 1. upload an avatar that's 160X160 or less or 2. use one of the ones I scrounged up in the avatar library.

TheLegend, I just changed your avatar to 160X160, so look to the left of your post and that's 160X160.
(Widths in inches are impossible to tell without knowing the exact dimensions of your monitor and the resolution you have it set at.)
You can right-click (control-click on a Mac) on an image in your web browser, select "Open image in new window," and in most browsers the title bar will have the pixel dimensions of the image. Or you can right-click the image, select "Properties" or "Get info", and it should come up with the height and width in pixels. Depends on your browser/operating system.

(actually your avatar is now 155 wide by 160 tall, but whatever)
