Me being AWOL

Post by Baseball=Life »

Hey, sorry I haven't been around as much. I got some surgery today to finally deal with the chronic hayfever I've been dealing with for a few years. They went in there and got it all fixed, so I look forward to being able to breathe more easily (and thus run faster?).

So, yeah, I'm dealing with the recovery now (anyone need to borrow some gauze? I have tons of it)... but I'll be back in effect next Sunday.

I'm glad you guys had fun on Sunday. One question though.....

WHAT'S WITH THIS THEME OF a 9-RUN INNING?!! It's so weird... 3 out of the last 4 games have been infected with this one monster 9-run inning that make a close game much less close. Of course, I personally was a big cause of one of these 2 weeks ago (overthrow on the force out at 2nd early in the inning - rushing for the DP)... It's pretty weird pattern! So, note to self: avoid allowing the other team to get a big inning like that, and the game's probably secured.

i assume thats you being sarcastic,

the 9 run innings well i dont think its that weird, everything just comes together at once, and the other team is trying to hard to get a double, triple, or homerun. that they stop trying to just get on base. scoring a 9 run inning isnt easy but it isnt hard either, just put the ball in play. sorta ironic that im saying that as i am the season 3 leader in k's.

every team, every week can have a 9 run inning the most important is not to k[/quote]

Indeed, absolute mastery in the man's prose.

No, no sarcasm, I definitely overthrew the 2nd basemen (as SS) trying to turn 2, and I think that lead to the big inning. You were the batter on that play, right? Didn't we talk about how you didn't think my team could've gotten 2 outs on that? Well it doesn't matter, because that was my motive--I thought that we could get you and thus lofted a throw into rightfield. (I think that I thought too much about not overthrowing that I overcompensated and threw it slower, but inadvertantly higher.)

But---It's definitely possible I saw you out of the corner of my eye running harder or faster than expected down the line and thus messed up the throw. So give yourself credit. I should have at the very least had the force at 2nd on the play, that's really the key, because we ending up desperately needing that final out in that inning.

no scot i did not post clearly. I meant when i ALMOST had you in the DP i was playing center field and you were on second, you thought i could close up the gap. But i did, caght the ball and saw you like half to third, and my eyes light up as i saw a "easy" way to get a DP and (hopefully some respect in the field) and then i over threw the ball. OOPS!!

we talked about this after the fact and you said you were surprised that i could cover that much ground. I was in fairly shallow in left center when i made the throw so instead of a soft online throw i just let the cannon fly. Oh well there is always next time, and i know there will be a next time.
