BBQ?

Post by TheLegend »

Rumor has it that there should be some discussion as to who would bring what to this weekend's event.

Hot dogs are always an easy and affordable item for grilling. Someone (or sometwo) should bring hot dogs and someone else can get buns. Burgers are also easy, and ground chuck isn't too expensive. If someone knows a place to get good, cheap chicken then we can do that also. I can bring some charcoal, and would not mind manning the grill.

I say feel free to bring steak for yourself. There are 2 or 3 pits near the field, and I can bring a small "smokey joe" to the park. It'll hold about 4 burger patties or 8-10 dogs.

Keep in mind that it's very easy to work up an appetite after playing baseball all day, so it's better to bring too much and have some to take home after the game than to leave hungry.

So here are some key items:

Hot dogs and buns
Hamburger and rolls/buns
Condiments! (Ketchup, mustard, relish, mayo, onions, pickles, steak sauce, etc)
Potato salad or chips
Paper plates
Eating utensils
Soda or juice
Cups
Charcoal <-Nick

Like I said, bring steak for yourself if you don't eat ground animal. I can also bring a "veg only" grill for the non-carnivores if requested.
I intended to write something to remind everybody of my superior prowess.

I wanted to bring a bunch of my homemade burger patties, so I guess I call that. Someone else can bring buns. I myself am partial to bread with some substance to it, not the cotton-wool crap that is distressingly common. Sourdough, potato-bread, kaiser rolls, ciabatta, they're all good.
You know what, I'll just bring some rolls I know I'll like, since I'm being fussy, it's the right thing to do!
So I'll bring, say, 24 patties and assorted rolls.

Well since people seem to have the meats covered, I'll bring some drinks (any special requests?) and some condiments, I have a bunch of those laying around the house.
Rules:
1. I am always right.
2. If I am ever wrong, read rule number 1.

I'm glad Paul (of mad-cow Britainnia) is bringing the beef :D (but I guess I shouldn't be making jokes these days...my sympathies for the Londoners...)

On a happier note, I'll bring at least a 12 pack of Sierra Nevada on ice. If anyone has a favorite brand request let me know and I'll bring that too.

Also, I'll bring a camera to record the festivities... so dress nice! :)
