2/25/07 Game

Post by Baseball=Life »

Well we managed to have a game that counted today. (14 players needed for stats to count.)

[boxscore= http://defstar.b0ne.com/viewbox.php?dat ... -25&game=0

It was raining hard late evening Saturday, and had rained somewhat overnight. It wasn't raining when I checked the field at 9:00 AM, but it was overcast, and the weather called for showers all day. The percent chance for rain was 50% at 11:00, 40% at 12:00, 30% at 1:00, then back up to 50% for the rest of the day. So, I figured, screw it, let's go for it and hope that window from 11:00 - 2:00 works out in our favor. Then, with the help of Darin and Dan R. plus others, we got the field bailed out.

Against the odds, a game happened. And it turned out to be a close nail-biter. Final score 5-2. The game winning RBI went to Henry who got a clutch, 2-out 2 RBI single to left-center in the 5th. I was safe at home on that play, with the throw being right behind me, and that ended up being the winning run.

Great game.

I can't believe what I thought to be an rbi single in the hole betweeen SS and 3rd that Henry barely got to was ruled an ROE. 0for's look very yucky. :-( Should've checked the book when I got back to the dugout.

Oh well, there's always next week.
