His pinch runner scored. Isn't that what we do for Matt?

By the way, I'm not hot for having hella people just taking swings all the time. We had 3 people do that today :?

no, i'm pretty sure we credit the run to the batter... or at least, that's what i've always done. Not sure what you meant by the second half of your post. I assumed you were referring to Bill's PH, but the "we had 3 people do that" kinda threw me off. care to clarify?

oh, are you talking about people hitting but not running? I think it's perfectly reasonable to accommodate people's injuries in that way.

Right... the batter scores even if he is pinch hit for. I thought Bill WAS credited with a run (I just didn't put it in) a so I thought you were disagreeing. We are on le same page.

And I think it's ok to do that, but if we start with just 12 or 14 people again next week, and 3 of them are having people run for them, it gets a bit wacky. But I'm not suggesting that we change anything.

I still don't accept the validity of that 9th inning. As far as I'm concerned, we won. First, new players were supposed to go to my team since you had gotten Arthur when we arrived, so that should have been Kevin hitting. Next, Arthur was breaking all the baserunning rules, including coming in to pinch-run for a pinch runner (L was running for Matt, who as replaced by Arthur at first base). Third of all, Juan should have thrown the ball to third.

I agree that that 9th inning was rather odd. Peter mentioned our team's lukewarm excitement and, at least for me, the strangeness of everything that happened had something to do with it.

Arthur running for Lynell (who was running for Matt) was legit as Lynell was on deck- He never should've been been volunteered to run for Matt in the first place.

There was no reasonable way for Bill to be added to your team, as he didn't voice an interest in participating until the bottom of the 9th inning. That being said, I don't know why Kevin decided to give up his at-bat, and I agree that it shouldn't have been allowed.

In terms of the second to last play of the game, that was certainly sketchy, but I didn't really know what to say about it. Was Lynell far enough off the base that he surely would've been out (i couldn't really tell from my perspective, but my reaction at the time was that he was). If not tho, then holding the ball in that situation was a more than reasonable tactic. If I were the pitcher in that situation I would not want the game to end on a ball that got away from a fielder. At the time, my thought was "he probably could've gotten the out there, but I can understand not throwing it"...

anyway, I agree that that 9th inning and the "victory" it brought were less than ideal...
